I have an acer as well and it works well.
That looks like a good laptop. My only comment would be if you have to take that computer with you it is pretty big and not very transportable.

I have a nice Dell laptop fully loaded that I bought on clearance at FutureShop for 649.00...it has everything and I absolutely love it...only thing is, it was bought for the kids schoolwork, so it's hard for me to sneak it away from them, they are always on it, lol...But I have had a DELL desktop computer that is almost 3 years old, and I have never had a problem ever.
My one DD had a Toshiba laptop that was almost 800.00 and it always overheated even with a fan underneath, and it had to go in twice for repairs as it kept crashing.

OP: It will help if you list what you plan to use the laptop for.
At 16" you're looking at a pretty hefty laptop. The weight will become noticeable if you're planning on carrying it around with you. The plastic frame may not absorb shocks as well as a more expensive unit. The ram/processor is fine for basic tasks.Earn points and redeem for prizes like Amazon GCs! It is not a bad deal, although not extraordinary.
As explained by others this will be a heavy and large unit.
Do not be too impressed with the screen size because the native resolution is not higher than common 15" (1366x768). The max hor HD resolution should be 720p, higher resolutions (1080i/p) would required downscaling .
Here is a similar one but $100 cheaper (don't be deceived by the brand, it's IBM):

I have heard good things about the Asus Eee netbook, it's very small and lightweight for travelling

Depending on what you intend to use the laptop for, you can get a better value for your money with this one (which I just bought after doing tons of research):

It's cheaper than the HP you're looking at but has 4GB RAM, 400GB HD, Wireless N instead of G, among other things. The processor is AMD's Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core processor QL-60. It is from AMD's Puma platform and will outperform the Intel Pentium T4200 (which is Intel's "budget" line) any day of the week.Visit me at www.sarniamomsource.com

This is exactly why the op needs to be clear on what he intends to use it for. The eee (which really has now been overtaken by many competitors) and other such netbooks may be fine for light tasks, but anything more will just leave you frustrated. Tiny screens, cramped keyboards, lack of an optical media option, etc. are just some of the drawbacks.

The price is good, the specs is ok. The video card might not good for gaming purpose.
BTW, do you really need that big screen for your notebook? If you need to carry it around.
