Hey everyone. I wasn't sure where to post this, but I know the deals section gets a lot of views and I know how generous all of us are on Smart Canucks. I just received this in my inbox and its a great way to help out the surivors of the earthquake in Haiti.

It's really easy. All you need to do is bring in your old shoes to any Soft Moc store across Canada between January 15-22. They will donate the shoes to help the survivors in Haiti.

I know personally that I have TONS of shoes, old and new. I did have a bunch for sale on Kijiji for $5-$50 but I have taken all the ads down and I am going to personally donate them.

I personally challenge each and every member of Smart Canucks that has a Soft Moc store near them to donate at least 1 pair of shoes. Everyone has to have an old pair of shoes that are no longer wearing. Just drop them off at your local shopping mall while you are running your usually errands. Take a picture and share it on this thread of your donation. Give a little, get a lot.

I know it's hard for everyone to donate money, but this is a really easy way to donate and help. Most of us have old pairs of shoes just collecting dust in our closets! Or, the shoes your kids may have outgrown.

Seventy percent of Haiti's population lives on less than $2 a day and half the 8.5 million population is unemployed.

There are more than 80 store across Canada! Find a Soft Moc Location Near You! http://www.softmoc.com/ca/locations.asp?WT.mc_id=876

I am wondering if anyone knows anywhere in the London, Ontario area that might be taking clothing donations as well?

Woke up to this email today from SoftMoc, and was very impressed. Hopefully other companies will step forward and do the same for food, clothing, and other much needed essentials!!

UPS is shipping anything under 50lbs for free to Haiti. You can send food clothes or shoes...and American Airlines is taking doctors and nurses to Haiti for free. Please call 212-697-9767. Spread the word...Red Cross needs Creole speaking volunteers for a 24hr phone bank. Call Mr. ......Wil...frid @ 305-776-6900

My friend just post this on Facebook I wonder if the UPS applies to canada too?

This is a wonderful thing! I will collect what I have, and what my son has as well. I'll even buy some cheap shoes to send, it's horrible what has happened!

If anyone finds out about UPS shipping for free, I'm so in!

Unfortunately this is not true. It is a twitter rumor. You can google it and find vatious websites verifying it is a rumor. They are apparently donating 1 million in relief aid though.

This soft moc thing is great, I just put a post up on my fb status letting anyone I know that if they cant make it there let me know and I will pick up their donation when I go in. Thanks for the post OP.
