I may be in a bit of a frenzy at Homey D and Rona tomorrow.

For sure I know I have to get:
    - 2 closet organizers (sale at HD)
    - 2 electric heaters
    - a fan/light
    - white paint

    And maybe stock up on:
    - baseboards
    - door/window trim
    - nails
    - mud

    VISA loved us this year.

I bought a closet organizer, I didn't think it was included in this... I don't own a home so I can't make renovations.

We're currently redoing our family room and waiting for the flooring to come in so we can buy it before Jan 31!! If it's not in today I'm going to beg them to let me pay for it in advance so the bill will be for Jan!

That would be a good idea. When I bought the new flooring for two of the bedrooms, I paid in advance. Then it was just a check-in to see if it was in and a run over to get it. Less hassle.

HRTC = Home Renovation Tax Credit. No cars are not included, unless you are living in your car

    Taken from the HRTC site:

    Important Notice
Eligible expenses for goods acquired during this period, even if they are installed after January 2010, will still qualify. If an eligible expense involves work performed by a contractor or a third party, and the work is not completed by the end of the eligible period, only the portion that is completed before February 1, 2010 will qualify even if a payment has been made.

You're right, you have to own the building yourself. I can only hope so, because of this line listed on their site:

Fixtures - blinds, shades, shutters, lights, ceiling fans, etc.
A closet organizer is actually fixed to the house. I would assume a portable closet organizer wouldn't count. I am KICKING myself that I didn't keep all the receipts for my blinds. I had no idea they were included at that time.

Your purchase have to be over $1000 and you get "credit" for the tax you paid after that.Certain people are excluded and I have no clue when it come to tax stuff.I just hand all the paper work to my BIL and he figures it all out for me.I give him a bottle of rum in return.I figure he needs it to "help" with the headache it causes!!

Sorry for asking. Does washing machine and dryer qualify for this? Thank you.
