A couple days ago, I took a survey on here asking SC users about two different scenerios....Of the dozen that answered the two questions, you could conclude that most SC members are willing to pay a little more for items if it reduces the chances of a hassle at checkout.
Kind of the same conclusion with that article.

interesting article. I would have to agree with his assessments.
It takes quite a bit of skill, time, energy, mathematical skills, patience, gumption, among other skill sets in order to be a successful and persistent coupon user. Due to all the work it takes I don't think most people could be bothered.

Wow that is a great article!!
And one of my favourite piece of advice I got in college was "If you had a bad experience, you tell 10 people. If you had a good experience, you tell 2 people" (Numbers might be a little different on the SC forum but you get the idea)Last edited by dholden; Thu, Feb 17th, 2011 at 03:32 PM.

You do need a lot of self confidence and backbone sometimes to deal with the attitude using coupon get you.
A while back I was had a new cashier who didn't know how to put in the coupons, didn't know how to void items when she got things wrong etc. The end result was her having to get other cashiers helping at a busy time,. It ended up taking up a lot of time sorting through her mistakes. A couple of months later I went back to that store with about four coupons. The cashier was one of the helpers who was present the last time. The minute she saw me she said "Oh. the coupon lady." I just smiled and said "I try" She made a big show of pointing out what coupon was for what product and said " I remember what happened before. I don't want to waste my time like that again." Her tone wasn't nice. I said, it wasn't my fault the cashier was new and didn't know what she was doing. You all should know how to do your job." I was made to feel bad for using coupons and trying to get the best deal. It took the joy out of getting the deal I was getting. I was so patient the first time waiting as they sorted out their mistakes. If I'd gotten angry and made a stink, then maybe she would think twice about calling me the coupon lady to my face and making a mockery of couponing. It made me feel bad for a while but only strengthens my will to save money with couponing at these stores and use as many coupons as I have there and buy my big money items that I may not have coupons for at stores that treat their customers well. I figure these cashiers need some more practice with coupons and I refuse to be intimidated by them.

With this said, it has affected my use of coupons. I joined the Senior Counsel, I've used many store specific coupons or occasionally from newspaper coupons, or will collect the friend to me.
