Once upon a time, I loved writing. I wrote dozens of poems, several short stories, took a few stabs at novel writing, even wrote a song or 2. Over the last few years, I've let things slide.
In speaking with Lotus & Gryphon today, I got to wondering why I'm not writing. No real reason, other than I keep thinking there are other things that need to be done. So, since it's simply a case of re-prioritizing what I'm doing, I'm going to jump right back in.
Which brings me to this thread. I'm sure I'm not the only one that needs a little "push" towards creativity.
I used to enjoy writing exercises, where I'd be given a word, a scenario, or a character & told to have fun.
Anyone want to play with me? Every Monday I'll post some "inspiration" & whoever would like can post their masterpiece here for everyone to enjoy. It can be a paragraph or a whole story, a haiku or an ode, whatever you enjoy.

i like this idea
"The Jew — is the symbol of eternity. ... He is the one who for so long had guarded the prophetic message and transmitted it to all mankind. A people such as this can never disappear. The Jew is eternal. He is the embodiment of eternity."

this really reminds me of the posts the mini-nanowrimo [national novel writing month] community make all during november. they will post one photo, one prompt word and one quotation. we don't have to use it for inspiration but it's a really great tool.
personally i still have a prompt table collecting dust that the fine people of SC helped me put together. i too have been very slack in getting any writing done lately.Sheldon: It's very simple. Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and—as it always has—rock crushes scissors

It was a dark and stormy night. As we were making our way to the parkade from a night out at the theatre, sidestepping puddles in our stilettos, we were startled by the nearby sound of screeching tires. Nance and I backed up a few steps as a silver Lamborghini Gallardo came flying down the last ramp of the parkade, and took off into the night. We looked at each other, wondering what would require such haste from the driver, and continued walking to the parkade, where our car was on the first level. As we came around to the section where our car was parked, a middle-aged man, carrying his suit jacket, sleeves rolled up, came running up to us yelling, 'Call 911! A woman's been hit by a sports car! She's on the ground over there; I saw it all happen and she's not breathing, I think she's dead!' Nance and I tried to calm him down, and made the call. After a few moments, he had himself composed, and we asked him to show us where the woman was. He walked us over a few sections of vehicles and said, "Right there, by the red Miata; I can't look at her again, you go see if you can help." So we went to the car, walked around the car - but there was no woman there. All we found, gleaming in the reflection of a puddle, was a pearl necklace...

Carrying his suit jacket & uttering a loud sigh,
Sleeves rolled up, a middle aged man rushed by
Then tires screeched
Cause fashion sense was breeched
He wore a pearl necklace in lieu of a tie!
