Personally I think this was very sneaky and stratigically planned. No one seemed to have had heard about this and yet it started on July 1, the same day that the HST went into effect. People are ticked off over the HST and quickly scan their bill and see 13% not paying too much attention to it. Was what they were looking at the 13% HST or was it an eco fee? I understand it says eco fee but still, quite sneaky if you ask me, but I expect nothing less from our Government anymore.

I think we should petition the gov't to make these recycling depots more accessible. I'm all for reducing waste that goes into landfills, but not with sneaky taxes/fees and making it hard for the average person to actually dispose of these products properly!

nice try crappy tire..... I see you tried to blame the overcharging on a computer 'glitch'. but computers only do what humans tell them to do.

travelgeek I was reading about CanadianTire, they were charging upwards of 32% tax *eco fee* on an item that should have been 1%.
Oh and isn't it special that HST is charged on your bill AFTER this "eco fee"? So the Government is making money off it this eco fee any way you look at it.
I don't get this, isn't $0.002 less than 1/2 a penny? So how do they charge you a maximum of half a penny? *scratches head* They obviously have to round it up to the nearest penny, so obviously the line of $0.002 is the maximum you can be charged is BS.Last edited by TaraF; Wed, Jul 14th, 2010 at 11:03 PM.

I only found this out today, and I am so shocked, I guess I shouldn't be, but the way these friggen politicians are screwing us is beyond acceptable.
this really took me by surprise and for a loop, but should have been expecting it, one way or another we always get flipped over and over, like an old burger that nobody wants to eat.
from local to provincial to federal, they are ALL bloody CORRUPT
