I've also noticed CanadaPost popping up when I search for prices on Google. Seems to work great. I'm shocked CanadaPost would be trying to save us money!

Don't be shocked: Canada Post owns BorderFree. BorderFree is a company that contracts with US businesses to provide shipping and parcel delivery to Canadian residents and businesses. By entering your searches in the Canada Post site, the information is supplied to BorderFree, who then provide it to their US-based retail clients to show what Canadians are buying or are interested in buying.

Similarly, Canada Post houses powerful statistical information in conjunction with Statistics Canada, and sells this information to businesses for targetted marketing purposes. Again, entering your database search info in their shopping site allows them to compile data to sell to businesses.

I'm not saying it isn't a useful tool; but it isn't out of the goodness of their hearts! This is highly revenue-generating for Canada Post!

While we are on the Canada post subject... i just did a survey on "opinion world". Apparently they are thinking of charging(probably through taxes or price of stamps) people more money to get mail delivered to their house and there were questions like " how many times a week would you prefer mail?" answers were ranging from 1 to 6. I wonder what they end up doing.
