5000 Points When You Buy 2 or More Gift Cards 150.00 or More!

Oh this is so weird...I bought 2x$75 of SDM GC (one was a reload), and $150 worth of non-SDM GC another transaction. At first I just had 7000 promo pts, but now I have 7750 pts. I thought I would have 8500 pts now, but maybe it's the reload card, which just makes no sense at all...

Thanks for the update - since I bought 15 X 100 SDM GCs, I see why I was added another 15,000 points today. I could not figure it out, given the numbers until I read these posts.

I bought 22 sets of $150 in GCs:
15 X $100 SDM and $50 others
7 X $150 others

1500 X 22 = 33,000
3500 x 22 = 77,000
1000 x 15 = 15,000
= 125,000 pts

Amazing but I already used the SDM cards for my diabetic supply order and have put a serious dent into the other cards - gas, liquor store, cineplex, and restaurants (mothers BD gift). I hope they have this promo more frequently in the future!

I seriously doubt they will have this promotion more than once a year(if only right before Christmas) and Im sure they are debating to ever have it again. I believe this might have been only time people have a chance to collect big points towards gift cards as they are planning to stop giving pts for gift cards altogether, and I see this happening in the next 6-8 months.

I just checked mine and I spent $150 on gc and got 3500 bonus points. But I got 1500 regular points when I shopped initially. I'm thinking the 5000 included the regular point since you don't normally get regular points on gift cards.... anyone else see the same thing?

I called CS yesterday and this is exactly what they told me. For buying NON SDM gcs, you normally get NO points. So they gave you 1500 at point of sale, then an additional 3500 "bonus" points making the total 5000. The ad was a little misleading, but...

As for the additional points that you all are getting randomly. CS said they were trying to add points a few days ago but had a glitch in the system so random points may be showing up over the next few days.

I recall they had some other interesting GC promos in 2009 - on specific ones, like Cineplex, Chapters and the points were higher - like 5000 on $50 - I think in May/June 2009 in time for teacher gifts. I fondly remember the ESSO one in Aug 2009 - I think something like 7000 pts for spending $75. I bought limited # of cards, came to this site and learned that I could use the ESSO cards to purchase other GCs at the ESSO stations (and should have bought more). The great part about learning from this site - is plenty of advance notice - so we can plan good strategies days ahead of getting the flyer - or hearing of others' clever strategies too.

I just checked online and it says I got 15,900 promo points. It should have been 20,000 or 14,000 if only getting the 3500pts. It makes no sense.

That promo was amazing. Perhaps the best points promo they ever had. I'm still using Esso and Cineplex cards from that promo I wish I cold buy more at that time.
