Actually I read that (bold) as meaning the points they're telling you you'll get are only based on your purchase - if you use the SDM MC they award those points separately (MBNA does it).

For the second one, I think they mean that you can't use a gift card to purchase another gift card; by "financial card", I have no idea...best guess would be that you couldn't use a "vanilla MC" (which they sell) to purchase more GCs.

It makes perfect sense. The only problem here the points will not be instant. So we wouldn't know what they mean by financial cards. Maybe they mean regular credit cards or maybe only Vanilla MC? I won't be taking chances and buy too many cards during this promo.

I interpret it the same way...you can't use GC or prepaid credit cards to buy them.

Just wondering ... How much is the "activation fee" on GCs @ SDM? Is it comparable with other stores? I don't usually buy GCs but want to get into the extra points action as I burned up all my points on the last bonus redemption day.

Only prepaid Visa, MC and Amex cards have activation fees and it's the same everywhere.

SDM gift cards and any other gift cards SDM sells (Future Shop, Best Buy, Cineplex etc.) have no activation fees.

I recently purchased 2x$100 SDM gift cards using my Optimum card (also purchased other items I needed). I had NO problems, SDM store I shop at knows me...don't know if this helps at all. The answer may vary by store.

My gift card purchase was not for this particular promotion...

I called 1800SHOPPERS and the guy said we get the 5000pts with the purchase of SDM GCs as well and we even get the pts if we pay for the GCs with an Optimum Mastercard.... so good news all around, im buying $1950 worth of SDM GCs this week.
