Thread: U-Haul Moving - Beware!!
-
Sat, Nov 6th, 2010, 12:14 PM #1
We rented a truck yesterday to remove some large furnitures. When we inspected the truck, the mileage was incorrect... it didn't match what they print from the system. It was about 30km more from the actual reading. When we return the truck and we got billed for those initial extra 30km with $1.11 per km = 33.30 + taxes. If we didn't pay attention, they would have got away. please be beware!! U-Haul located at 1555 Warden Ave.

oo thats a good point! Thanks for posting this. I am moving really soon and we are booking a uhaul. I would have never thought to check the mileage to make sure it matches. Pretty sad when you have to be careful and double check things like that all the time

Am I the only person who remember when the consumer watch dog shows used to regularly do exposes on U-Haul??
I'd move my stuff in a VW Beetle before I'd call U-Haul.

Sorry you had a bad experience.
We've used U-Haul twice, and never had any problems with them.

U Haul bosts the most unreliable unfit equipment that you could ever find out there. They are not regularly inspected like commercial vehicles have to be.
We rented one over 10 years ago, when we moved from 1 city to another. The first day we had it, it failed to start the next morning when we had to move. The throttle got stuck on it within the first 30kms driving it, that was so scary cause we were trying to stop and couldnt, we had to jam on the E-brake to slow down. It drove like we had square tires. Then when we got to our destination, the cargo door was jammed shut, we had to have the Uhaul company from that city come to our home and cut the door open. They proceeded to have the truck towed to their facility where they gave us a FULL refund.
With having driven truck for 10 years, I have seen hundreds of Uhaul trucks broke down everywhere.
Will never trust them.Join GROUPON for incredible deals, click here
