I use a silicone thing that I tape over my scars from my plastic surgeon. My keloids are noticeably better. Have you tried silicone?

It looks like the main ingredient in Mederma is Onion Extract and it isn't really known how effective it is with the treatment of scars. One clinical trial stated it was ineffective, while another (company funded) trial stated it worked.

AFAIK, the only treatment truly known to reduce the appearance of scars are Silicone Scar Sheets, and this is supported by multiple controlled clinical trials.

Can I buy the scar sheets from anyone but a surgeon? Can a doctor give a presc for them? Do you know what they cost? My scars are all keloid, my orth surgeon sent me to a plastic surgeon to see about fixing them, but laser was only option and it would be very painful and expensive. I have a massive thick scar on my knee from 9 surgeries on it and then lots of other insicions and from my heart implant device i had its big and ugly too..Mine are so purple and thick, any info on this would be helpful. If you could pm me the info i would appreciate it. Thks
