I know it has been a little frustrating that Island trains are taking so long to move around the Island.

Not that long ago Canada Post centralized their mailing system on Vancouver Island. It used to be that mail was sorted in each city centre (i.e. Nanaimo, Courtenay, Port Alberni, Victoria, Campbnell River) but now all mail gets shipped down to Victoria then back out again.

So let's say a train starts in Nanaimo and next goes to Campbell River and next goes to Port Alberni. How it would be shipped by Canada Post is it will leave Nanaimo, be sorted in Victoria then mailed to CR, then leave CR, be sorted in Vic then mailed to Port Alberni, and so on and so forth.

It's annoying. Local Canada Post centres tried to change HQ mandates saying that it will disrupt quick mail service on the Island but honchos at HQ seemed to think it would be more efficient. Not so much
