Update: Delivered the packages today and at the same time also dropped off two garbage bags full of gently used stuffed animals from my son's teacher who heard through the grapevine I was doing a shelter drop and wanted in on the action! So not only did I get to spoil 12 women today but make some children happy, thanks to my son's kind teacher!
The shelter was happy as usual to receive the donation and I got a chocolate rose for my efforts in honour of International Women's Day!
All in all, a great day and I arrived in North Bay safe and sound, even after my own car broke down before leaving my house today and after I had to rent a car to get here and bring my car to the shop!
********************************************
As many of you know, I try to donate care packages regularly to our local women's shelter.
The last time I donated was at Christmas time, when I made super duper care packages thanks to the generosity of many SC'rs on here such as daisybear, cmontario and smartshopper888 who donated actual products etc. My next donation was originally planned for Valentine's Day, but my son got sick and then I got sick and I had to travel for work, so that was a right off as the rest of February flew by, without an opportunity to donate again! Until now that is
In honour of International Women's Day which is happening on Tuesday, I made up 12 care packages for our local 10-bed women's shelter. Ironically enough, I will be driving by there (the shelter is an hour away from me!) on Tuesday enroute to North Bay for a work-related training session this week, so I will be dropping them off on my drive by
This time around, I received some SC help from Aussie who sent me some amazing FPCs for Dove products as well as cabmonk, sheetsofemptycanvas, shopgirl, mamelmo, cmoody8107 and jasminebed who have raok'd me shelter stuff through gift exchanges and raoks.
I am pretty pleased with how the shelter packages turned out this time around, as the sun is suppose to shine all week and they are pretty bright and shiny themselves
Without further adieu, here are my latest donation packages:

I will post again once delivered but thanks to everyone for your continued support and making SC a great place to find deals and coupons so I can donate!
My next donation collection is already underway as I snagged some Easter baskets yesterday when I snagged these bags So stay tuned for another shelter brag in upcoming months
Until then, Happy Sunday Everyone and have a happy International Women's Day on Tuesday!

That is so amazing! I hope that one day once I get this whole coupon thing down I will be able to do something like this! My sister and I have decided to do a christmas hamper this year (I have never done anything like this before but have always wanted to). So I will see how that goes.
I am hoping that I will be able to get together some donations to drop off at vancouvers DTES. I am fortunate enough to have a teacher at my university that is very envolved with the DTES and she goes down there every year in Feb and hands out food to the people down there. I hope to be organized enough to get some mini car packages to hand out. (but that all depends on if I can become an expert couponer... I am lucky to have a LD though!)

I got the bags from Dollarama! They were $2 ea. but well worth it as they are lined and have a zipper. Perfect to use as a tote, lunch bag or even a summer purse
