They do have an area for staff though, its the first rating that shows on the list of reviews
I don't put much stock into sites like that, people only go looking for a place to vent when they have a bad experience, if you are happy with your treatment you likely are not even thinking about it anymore
My specialist has awful reviews down to being late and aloof, my 2nd appt he gave me his email address so I didnt need an appt to ask minor questions etc, he is always on time for appts (although he works at the hospital and was once called out of my appt when ER needed extra docs due to a bad pile up, so maybe he has been late on those occasions, but he didnt charge me for the whole appt and we were almost done)
My BF's doctor who I would not go to if my life depended on it, he is cold, and has very rude staff, is impossible to get an appt with although when you go there is not a full waiting room etc has 5/5s - I think he is making up email addys and leaving himself reviews!

Before I went in for my Surgery in October I actually looked my NeuroSurgeon up on this site, I figured if someone will be digging around in my Brain I'd REALLY like to know how good of a Dr he is lol.
The reviews I read were great and my Surgeon was even more than that. Infact I've wanted to go back and do my own review of my Surgeon and was just reading some of the reviews there now and you know he's a good surgeon when someone writes, "A true gift from God".
And quite frankly I wouldn't disagree.
I did look up my Family Dr who has no reviews and some Oral Surgeons. I was referred to one last May and went there and did NOT get a good "feel" from him and when I came home and looked him up sure enough his reviews were bad. That site however is how I ended up finding the Oral Surgeon that did my surgery in July, I read the reviews and called my Dentist and said I wanted a referrel to this specific Surgeon. Glad I got one too because he was awesome. I LOVE this site, there is nothing like the "opinions of real customers".
*Edit* I just found my Family Dr! And he has lots of reviews, sweet. I agree with most of them too.Last edited by TaraF; Wed, Mar 23rd, 2011 at 12:38 PM.

I have to agree that I wouldn't put absolute faith in what is being posted there...like anything else on the Internet, you kind of have to take everything with "a grain of salt". That being said, I looked up my DH's current doctor (he used to also be our doctor the last time we lived in this area) and I have to agree with the majority of the comments. You can get an appointment quickly, which is good, but he is very rushy and rarely actually looks at your file (so if you come back because of a previous problem, he won't know what that problem is until you tell him again because he won't look at your file).
The last doctor I had was fabulous and I am sad that we had to move away. I actually took the time to leave a good rating for him on this site just because that is how great I thought he was. He was always polite and friendly, great with the kids, always took the time to actually listen to what you were telling him, and even though they booked a lot of patients (they had a sign posted saying there was a time limit on appointments and only 1 issue per appointment) he never made you feel rushed. Just looked him up on there again and he has a 4.9 rating out of a 5!Last edited by vibrantflame; Wed, Mar 23rd, 2011 at 12:41 PM.

I just posted a good rating for my family doctor.. love her! I trust her and appreciate her more now than when I was younger [obviously].
People complain that my doctor is late during the winter months.. I posted in my message ["yes rose is late in the winter, especially on the crappy snow covered road days because she LIVES IN Uxbridge these days"] She and her husband had to move out of our town because people were hounding them for medical advice everywhere they went so they moved an hour away =(...
any who I posted a bad review for a bad ob/gyn. Apparently I'm not the only one that didn't like her talking down to you, about you to other paitents, blaming female problems on weight [or other issues] and leaving paitents in the little waiting room for 40+ minutes.
Oh my god my evil olllllllld dentist is in this... baaad reviews lol!

Yes it's true most people only complain on these sites after a terrible experience. If doctors would get on board and start using the internet more effectively they could change this, but the fight it tooth and nail.
I started HealthcareReviews.com to try and bring some balance to the ratings, by allowing doctors to register and reply to anonymous comments or remove them if deemed slanderous, hopefully this will make a more civil, balanced and constructive tool for both doctor and patient and not just a place to rant like most sites are.HealthcareReviews.com rate and review your doctor, hospital, dentist and healthcare professional.

I used this website when I first moved to our new home. Previously, I was familiar with their sister site, something like ratemyprofessors.com and found it fairly helpful. There are a lot of people who don't leave any comments, but I find the people who do to be generally fair and honest. I give these ratings more weight than people who don't say anything.
I was also looking for a doctor with experience, but not too close to retirement, so I wouldn't have to look for another doctor for several years. I finally went down the list from top to bottom, calling each office to see who was accepting patients. Thankfully, I didn't have to look further than a 4.7 rating. We like our new doctor so it worked out for us!

I have had a few referrals to specialists in the past few months, so have used this site to do a bit of reconnaissance on the new docs. LOL, it was helpful as I wasn't even told in the referral whether the doc was a he or a she - I was just told I'd be seeing Dr. So-and-so and given the date, time and location. Seeing as how the doc sees my file before s/he sees me, I think this is just a way to level the playing field a wee bit.
