Au Naturale-Goodbye Blue Sky
au naturale - Goodbye Blue Sky
Good morning all!:-)
Hey everyone.
I am still alive....
It has been so long since I have been here that I haven't a clue when it was.
I have been very busy looking after my mom in Montreal, mostly on weekends!
Staying in touch with the drs and nurses at the hospital and I am thrilled to say
my mom is being released on Sunday and moving into a new assisted living apartment
across the road from where she was living before.
We are moving her furniture tomorrow.
I must say this has been exhausting mentally and physically though I would not have changed
anything I did for her. I am explaining to my daughter who will be 18 in Nov how important it is
to look after elderly parents.... ;) :lolsign:
We did manage to take a much needed vacation 2nd to last week of August. We went on a fabulous
cruise through Alaska. We took many excursions, walked and walked and even slept a few hours during the
day a few times.
We were on the Princess cruise line..... and my daughter had a blast with kids her own age.
We hardly saw her except foe the excursions.
The icebergs were amazing... and we took several hundred pictures most of them. We had a balcony
and the view was exceptional from there.
We are heading into Montreal tonight as the movers will be at my mom's early am.
BTW, Not sure if I mentioned that my mom had a stroke on her right side during or after her
quadruple bi pass and valve replacement.
They were not sure she would walk again, and at 85 my mom is feisty, and was and is hell bent
on walking. She using a walker by herself. Her mind is as good as ever. Her right arm and hand
were affected, and very slowly she is gaining some strength back and that is why she can use a walker now.
No more driving for her, and at the present she cannot cook for herself....
Also with this assisted living apartment building, 24/7 nurses, and entertainment, and meals.
In fact it looks like a resort. Each meal she has 3 choices to choose from and if by chance she doesn't like
them the kitchen will make her something just for her.
She initially did not want to go into assisted living, and now she is looking forward to it. She knows her next
door neighbour from a walking club she used to belong to.
All in all the outcome of the last 5 1/2 months is positive.
I will see you guys later.
:sweet:Loocie...
I will be in touch and I wish you a strong recovery
this is FABULOUS news. so glad that your mom is getting better & is looking forward to being pampered as she should be.
sounds like a wonderful trip. you really needed the break & recovery time.
have a safe trip back to Montreal & will look forward to your return.
Have a great evening!
you're welcome. :)
Good afternoon. Had a great time at Peter Gabriel last night! He was so much better than the last time I saw him with The New Blood Orchestra. The first bunch of pictures was not turning out so I put the shutter on continuous. Ended up with over 700 photos most of them crap. First run though deleted over 300. And so many I kept and shouldn’t have so will have to go though again, then will post a few. Going to see the new Queen Concert movie tonight. Wife thinks we are going to the Expendables 2 as we tried when it opened and it was sold out. She is a big Queen fan so I hope she enjoys it.
Mcskier have a great vacation.
Mmmme – glad to see you found a place your mom likes I’m sure that is a relief.
Have you ever wondered where and how yodeling began?
Many years ago a man was traveling through the mountains of Switzerland.
Nightfall was rapidly approaching and he had nowhere to sleep. He went up to a farmhouse and asked the farmer if he could spend the night.
The farmer told him that he could sleep in the barn.
As the story goes, the farmer's daughter asked her father, "Who is that man going into the barn?"
"That fellow travelling through," said the farmer. "needs a place to stay for the night, so, I told him he could sleep in the barn."
Thedaughter said, "Perhaps he is hungry." So she prepared him a plate of food and then took it out to the barn.
About an hour later, the daughter returned. Her clothing disheveled and straw in her hair. Straight up to bed she went.
The farmer's wife was very observant. She then suggested that perhaps the manwas thirsty. So she fetched a bottle of wine, took it out to the barn, and she too did not return for an hour. Her clothing was askew, her blouse buttoned incorrectly. She also headed straight to bed.
The next morning at sunrise the man in the barn got up and continued on his journey, waving to the farmer as he left.
When the daughter awoke and learned that the visitor was gone, she broke into tears. "How could he leave without even saying goodbye," she cried. "We made such passionate love last night!"
"What?" shouted the father as he angrily ran out of the house looking for the man, who by now was halfway up the mountain.
The farmer screamed up at him, "I'm going to get you! You had sex with my daughter!"
The man looked back down from the mountain side, cupped his hand next to his mouth, and yelled out.....
"LAIDTHEOLADEETOO !!!!"

Preaching to a Bear
A priest, a Pentecostal preacher and a Rabbi all served as chaplains to the students of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
They would get together two or three times a week for coffee and to talk shop.
.
One day, someone made the comment that preaching to people isn't really all that hard.
A real challenge would be to preach to a bear.
One thing led to another and they decided to do an experiment.
.
They would all go up to the Smokies, find a bear, preach to it, and attempt to convert it.
Seven days later, they're all together to discuss the experience.
.
Father Flannery, who has his arm in a sling, is on crutches and has various bandages on his body and limbs, went first.
'Well,' he said, 'I went into the woods to find me a bear.
And when I found him I began to read to him from the Catechism.
Well, that bear wanted nothing to do with me and began to slap me around.
So,I quickly grabbed my holy water, sprinkled him and, Holy Mary Mother of God, he became as gentle as a lamb.
The bishop is coming out next week to give him first communion and confirmation.'
.
Reverend Billy Bob spoke next.
He was in a wheelchair, with an arm and both legs in casts, and an IV drip.
In his best fire and brimstone oratory he claimed,
'WELL brothers, you KNOW that WE don't sprinkle! I went out and I FOUND me a bear.
And then I began to read to my bear from God's HOLY WORD! But that bear wanted nothing to do with me.
So I took HOLD of him and we began to wrassle.
We wrassled down one hill, UP another and DOWN another until we came to a creek.
So right quick-like, I DUNKED him and BAPTIZED his hairy soul.
And just like you said, he became as gentle as a lamb.
We spent the rest of the day praising Jesus.'
.
They both looked down at the rabbi, who was lying in a hospital bed.
He was in a body cast and traction with IV's and monitors running in and out of him. He was in bad shape.
The rabbi looks up and says, 'Looking back on it, circumcision may not have been the best way to start.'
