I'm going to try the pickling beet recipe also Andit.

OK, so I'm an idiot (the brats will happily tell you that ). I was talking to my Mom & realized I forgot to add one ingredient to the pickled beets - caraway seeds. Ooops. Personally, I think the recipe as it stands is yummy enough without them, but I was wondering why it tasted so different from my Mom`s (I just figured it was one of those things where any recipe I make is never as good as the original).

I`m off to adjust the recipe with an explanation, in case anyone is yet to get into a pickle.

what an awesome day out. it poured here early in the morning, but by 10 am, the sun was out, wind was blowing & it was warm. i was able to get the laundry dried on the line & it dried fast. all the windows are open, but i hear it will cool off tomorrow.
thanx so much for all your kind words & prayers. i was talking with my Mum today & she was telling me about their visit on Friday. They didn't get to talk to the head dr, just the resident. i understand that doctors don't like to give you false hopes, but it seems to be that they will wait for test results before giving you a diagnosis. it seems to be all about the science, instead of experience & years of hands on reality. From the past 2 previous dealings with family members, their doctors were all about drugs, instead of finding the underlying cause of the problems, which cause more problems. I see the differnce wi9th my brother, now that he's off most of his meds. We will see what happens by Tuesday.

warning this is very sad:

we found out my dad's girlfriend's daughter has inoperable cancer.
damn crap she has a tumour the size of a baby, and (granted she is not
a small person but crap) it wasn't found until now,,,
and of course all that can be done is to try and shrink it so she can
be more comfortable.
ann is only 58 years old, same as my cousin, the sister in law from hell,
and me.
hard enough for her family but how does one tell her grandkids?
sorry to tell you but,,, guess i was trying to warn you all, if the medical
system takes too long to give an answer, damn just signing.

I am sorry & sad to read about others & their experiences with cancer. It is a beast - that's for sure. As many of you know I have been living with SARCOMA since about 2000. Long story...lost part of my right leg in 2002, had a run in with a unusual melanoma on my right arm, & in 2012 a very big surgery to remove a huge tumour from my left iliac, pelvis & sacrum. I was bed ridden for 2 months after that surgery. (Mt Sinai & West Park for rehab) 33 radiation treatments to my pelvis which meant removing bone from my pelvis, sacrum & tailbone. My left side & my right side are no longer symmetrical. .....Low & a couple of beholds later, here I am dealing with a bilateral metastasis in both lungs. My sarcoma is also inoperable. Too many little tiny tumours as well as a few larger ones. So, that brought me to where I am now. The clinical trial which I am now participating in. So far, so good. The CT scans have shown that the tiny tumours remain unchanged & the larger ones have also now grown. I saw my own scans & my doctor explained to me how they are situated & showed me the healthy lung tissue that is still functioning.....So all I can say is that I am happy with that.

Sarcomas often do not respond to traditional chemotherapy & it is not always practical or possible to radiate multiple tumours or certain areas. Sarcomas are sneaky. They wind around blood vessels, they whirl around tendons & muscles. They are of soft tissue origin - so lookout.

I am still here & I have to say that I am happy to be here. Life is great - I see that every day. One of the plus sides of my experience is that I have met great people. Incredible & knowledgeable docs from around the world that are in Toronto to do a residency or sometimes a fellowship. My care has been first class. The down side is the waiting in the blood lab. Upstairs is not so bad. I am at the hospital twice a month. My treatment is in pill form & I take it every single day. My job right now is to keep this neurfibrosarcoma far away, across the street, around the corner, over the meadow & keep on going!

We have excellent health care here. I advise everyone to always ask for a copy of any radiology reports, bloodwork, scans etc... They are your results & your responsibility is to be informed, aware & on top of things that concern you.

This has been a very hard year for me for so many reasons. The worst ever was loosing my sister in law. I have never missed someone as much as I miss her. But, of course I go on it's just that life isn't the same without Sue. More family stuff, but I'm keeping that private.

So, take it easy dear people & look after yourselves and one another.

i am so glad things are going so much better for you, Loocie, health wise. I feel your pain about your SIL. It has been a trying few years for you. Being in a positive frame of mind has helped too. Thanx for sharing your journey.

Great sunny day out, couldn't do a few things I would have liked to so went down to the beach which was great in itself, except for a few people being too mean to their dogs, for god's sake let them enjoy the walk too!!!! don't choke them to near death!!!!

Hey everyone, I just saw Alohamom's Chapman Ice Cream commercial. I think she is crazy bananas busy.

I didn't do any pickling today. Did anyone make pickled beets today?

Hang in there HTeam - you must be so tired. I know waiting for definitive answers can be frustrating. Often the residents are the messangers for the docs. They do rely on those test results. They most often know beforehand, but they can be wrong.
