I got a few of these calls too. Ive told my mom numerous times to not pay attention to calls and emails she doesnt know. I worry maybe one day she will fall for the legitimate sounding scam.
I get lots in my junk mail too. Apparently several different people are willing to help me get my penis enlarged. Maybe when I receive my billions from Nigeria, I will look into it

I got this phone call...had an pakistan accent said his name was Paul calling from texas...said my computer had a major virus on it and I was to open up certain files to check...
Microsoft DOES NOT call anyone to tell them they have a virus.
A few hours later, a woman called to tell me I won something...she just needed to know what credit card I used most for shopping...I told her I didn't have a credit card and they never called back.
Never give any information...
The miscro soft scam is one of the biggest worldwide...google it...many people have been fooled...don't be one of them!

We had the computer scam call 2 weeks ago. My son answered the phone and the guy told him there was a problem with the computer (which we actually had a problem at the time) My son allowed him access, but we walked in just as he gave access, he hung up on the guy and unplugged the computer.

We couldn't believe our son fell for it and he felt really bad about it. We kept our computer unplugged then had it wiped clean and all credit cards cancelled. They have since called our house 3 times, told them if they call again police will be notified.

I know it is easy to say that you just don't answer it if you don't know it, but it is extremely annoying to me when they just keep calling everyday... and that ringing... anyway, I always try to get off of the list..

Sometimes when I get unwanted calls I just meow...or sing the Meow Mix song...yes immature, but terribly fun!

I got the Airmiles one a few months ago. The guy hung up when he asked for my cc# and I told him I can't give you what I don't have(which is true). I know how to handle these buggers after working in customer service for many years. LMAO.

Hey everyone, I know this is the wrong place to post but I wanted everyone just to be aware. Moderators - feel free to move to wherever you please (maybe a blog post)?

I got 2 phone calls in the last 2 days. One from someone with a thick Indian accent about my Windows computer sending error reports. I am having lots of computer troubles but I guess they count on most people having them. I questioned them lots and then said I didn't time to talk to them.

The second call was an automated call from that said I won 100,000 airmiles. Sounded fishy so i hung up as well. This made me a little curious because I had just checked out the real Airmiles contest on line yesterday!

Anyway, I googled these both and they are scams. I just didn't want anyone to get duped because apparently people do and give them access to their computers and other personal info.

My folks at one time were getting the same phone call. I told them that they should ignore it. Best thing is to have call display and only pick up calls you know. They don't have that feature though.
I do their computer help and their PC is fine and I told them not to worry about the calls. Just hang up.
If you really are having computer problems, I will help you for free. It is a hobby of mine. I help people all the time and their computers are like night and day since I started. I advise and teach and do stuff.

Always good to run virus scans and spyware scans a lot. Also good to have more than one spyware program on your computer. No need to have them boot up with your PC but the AntiVirus program has to of course. Just be sure to run scans every so often. Obviously if you are on the PC everyday then you need to run scans more than the once a month PC user. Most spyware and viruses are of course made for Windows which is what most of us use.
These phone scammers obviously put key loggers on your computer to steal info. They are the worst.

We're on the do not call list.

If some calls slip through, we say, mail it to us. If it is a scam, they can get charged with fraud. Usually, they don't want to mail anything.

Anyway, we only spend 10 seconds max with these thieves.

I got a call about my computer running slow, told them I didn't have a computer, and that I would call the police if they called again...........as soon as they heard police i heard the click of the phone. My hubby usually answers the phone and I really feel sorry for the jerks on the other end as he does not mince words also if you wait a few seconds before saying hello when answering the phoe, the automated voice will hang up usually saying goodbye

yay for scary husbands! i'm lucky to have one like that to protect me from the phone too. ha ha ha. He is the one I named my smartcanucks name after. hee
