I boxed up a bunch of stuff for the food bank. They were so appreciative.
In the box I put:
Kraft Dinner
Beans
Soups
Toothpaste
Deodorant
Dish soap
Soap
3 boxes of cereal
Aspirin
Laundry detergent
There might have been a few more things, but I can't remember.
The purpose of the post is not to brag, but to say that they really do need the personal items, so if anyone is making donations, please add some of those things.
I used to think that food was the only thing, but many times there isn't enough money for soap, dish soap and such.
I added the aspirin, but they won't give it out to their clients. She said that if someone comes in complaining of a headache, they give a couple then, but that's it.This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Great ideas ladies!!!
I've donated diapers and women's pads to the Food Bank. They appreciated getting them there. This is the time of year when the Food Bank is suffering....

We also did a donation to Transition House last month. The lady told us two things they always need and rarely get are personal hygiene products and hair conditioner.
Those $$$ items at Super Store are fantastic for donating.
Adopting a family at Christmas is also wonderful. My husband's work does this every year through payroll deduction.

you know, i had wanted to donate to the food bank, but food couponing is so hard to come by. I had never considered taking some of the personal items there.
thanks for the heads up!

My Church is having a Food Bank Drive this month for Thanksgiving. They got word that the Food Bank shelves are bare, and they need re-stocking.
Some things I try to do to add to my donation, without draining my wallet are: Huggies points - for diaper FPCs then get the diapers when the Mega size go on sale and use the FPC on that size. The FPC is for Jumbo size or $14.00 off a larger size.
Any FPCs that come out, and if I don't want that product, it gets donated to the Food Bank. Sometimes you can combine that offer with other offers at the grocery store. For example, I had 2 Ragu Pasta Sauce FPCs and at Sobeys, they had an offer if you bought 2 Ragu, you could get the spaghetti for FREE. So, all 2 items were donated, and didn't cost me a cent!! (that was just luck and good timing!!! I didn't know that was going to happen at Sobey's! haha!)
This is why it's important to have a good coupon system, and have your coupons with you all the time -- cuz ya never know when you'll find a great deal!

I did another box up today. Hubby will deliver it. While I live in Sydney, we donate to Glace Bay in my uncle's memory as this was his charity of choice.
Every little bit helps. I put lots of cereal, pasta, soup, soap, laundry and dish soap, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, baby cereal, formula.
They so need every bit they can get.

I was to Shopper's yesterday in that horrible wind & rain,... and they had a bunch of things on clearance. I found 2x pkgs of Newborn size Pampers on for $4.99, less a $2 coupon. That's going in my Church's food bank drive this month!
