Well, here's the thing too...saying you PLAN to do something ridonkulous ISN'T a brag, and doesn't belong in the brag section anyhow. Some things just shouldn't be posted period.
HUH? YOU DON'T DO SWAGBUCKS OR SUPERPOINTS? ARE YOU CRAZAY?!

Very well said.
As much as I love smartcanucks, and I say this with the utmost respect, it is not okay to sit idly by and let people post things that can negatively influence both new and existing couponers alike - when something is blatantly wrong/abusing policies.
There is a point where morals come into play. Like you mentioned, SO many people read smartcanucks, even if they are not registered or posting, they are reading - I know I lurked for a year or so before joining. If they see these brags and see the "way to go"s and "awesome"s, what are they going to take away from the situation? That it is okay to follow by example. This is a reputable site - any reasonable person would assume that if it's credible enough to stay in the brag section, it is okay to follow.
I think we all know that shows like "Extreme Couponing" which take what we do to a ridiculous extreme have tainted the image of couponing and given it a bad rep. Certain brags only add to that.
I believe in the principles of respect, empathy, and patience. I also believe in speaking up for what I believe is right. So while it is all well and good to say "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" - in reality, dissenting opinions often have to be expressed. Sadly, even if they are expressed in a nice way, they are taken as an attack either because tone is often misjudged over the internet, or because different points of view are often automatically classified as attacks.
My apologies for the novel.

This is a good discussion. One conclusion that I've drawn from being on SC is that there are some people who don't care whether they are ethical or not...as long as they get a deal, they are all for it. It could mean excess coupon use or it could mean coupon misuse...doesn't matter...they just want to spend as little as possible. You won't be able to teach these people anything.
If you say anything, you will just be accused of being jealous of their brag.

Obtuse and denial are good words to describe this situation. Also possibly self-absorbed, overly-defensive, overcompensation, delusional and a side dish of crazy.
Nobody attacked her at all, and she responded by (LOL) attacking EVERYBODY back. She doesn't understand basic math I guess, fifty prints today and fifty prints tomorrow = 100 prints. Just because it's a new day doesn't mean yesterday doesn't exist anymore, and there is a difference between printing 4 or 5 and 600. Apparently she also doesn't understand that the unlimited prints thing is going to become a thing of the past. Having unlimited prints now is a privilege.
I couldn't help but spit my beverage when she implied she felt she was 'owed' overage because she's spent $2000 there without coupons. Uhh, such is life? People do have to pay for things, ya know.
And about the companies she seems so concerned about being run into the ground when wally-world comes stomping into town... Is she unaware that spending large amounts of money at walmart will only feed the beast which will in turn destroy more mom & pop stores? That alone tells me her logic isn't the best.
Then, turning around and attacking people with stockpiles calling us hypocrites? I've been at mine for a year, little by little, never abusing anything. You can have massive amounts of stuff and never step on toes, it's REALLY not that hard.
I really cannot believe some of the members here who are all "If you have nothing nice to say, shut up" and also, in essence "report everyone you don't like". It makes me laugh because two of the people in that thread who were defending the OP have done or said some questionable things in the past.
Birds of a feather flock together, I suppose.

"Saying nothing at all doesn't make it right."
Amen.
I don't even bother to read the brag section any more. I am not in the least big jealous of these people, I'm disgusted by them. I choose to stick to my morals and save just fine.

I don't see the big deal if people take tips they learn on here and start a blog...I dont have a blog myself but I do read a blog that I really like. Isn't the point of this forum to take the tools we learn here and spread the word?

But anyways, i don't think anyone is saying that starting a blog is an issue here.
