So, I think we're in a sale cycle now with the Enfamil. Didn't see any sales for months, and now they're starting to go on sale. RCSS is pricematching Wal-mart, no limit, so I stocked up today on formula tubs with $5 coupons (made it just under $20 each) and got the $25 gift card wus $250.

I had the same problem as you with not producing enough.
I think that the idea of going to refillable tubs for the environment is good, however, I am glad I am not the only one to balk at the price vs quantity thing. I try to mitigate the price damage by buying when I have coupons and trying to get Optimum points, usually on a 20X event or, like this weekend, with getting a Tim card back.Earn CASH AND GIFT CARDS. Glad I use Similac.. I'd be afraid of getting ripped off because of the new tub (less amt of formula) but that may or may not be the case.
Can someone explain the different between buying the can and the refillable tub? What are the environmental pros of this change? Personally, I reused a lot of the Similac cans we used with DS. My grandmother took a lot of them because she likes to store different food items in them.. not everyone does that but I thought the cans were made out of recyclable material?

The thing is, it's the tubs that seem to be going on the best sales. I wish the refill packs went on for a better price. Went to Zellers today, and the shelf of refill packs was empty. I somehow doubt it was full yesterday, on the first day of the sale!
The containers are really nice. Would be good for crayons, pastels, beads, that sort of thing. Covering them with wallpaper wouldn't interfere with the snap-down tab of the lid.

Also did the movie tickets at SDM last weekend and the optimum points earlier in the week. Today's sales were at a better direct price, though. I must have 17 containers (some tubs, some refill packs) in reserve now.
The best was with that 50% coupon at Zellers on the refill pack. Used a coupon, too!
Very thankful to those who traded me Enfamil coupons last week!

Because of the change in format and increase in cost we thought we'd try Kirkland formula from Costco to see how DD does with it. I compared the nutritional information with the Enfamil A+ we were giving her and they're so close. She's doing really well and doesn't seem to have any tummy troubles or be spitting up any more than usual. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone out there is wondering about the store brand formulas. It's $22 for 1.46kg and I think it sometimes goes on for around $18.

I wasn't able to breast feed with my son and the amount we paid for formula was insane so I am determined to breast feed with this baby. The only thing is if he/she is like my son I am in trouble he was 1 month eating 5 ounces of formula and his little friends were barely eating 2 LOL

You could call enfamil and ask for coupons, I did and they sent me 3 x $3 off. I also used parents choice when he was. 6+ months and he was fine its so much cheaper too.

Thanks for another vote of confidence for the Kirkland brand. I think I'll try it once the first few potentially fussy months are over. DS' older brother was colicky, and I'm so afraid of it happening again with this guy that I'm keeping him on Gentlease and A+ for a while. I'm thinking that 4 1/2 to 5 months would be a good time to try Kirkland
Nursing and the milk supply are going much better this round, though I still don't have enough to satisfy his hunger at all times of day. I'm trying to avoid taking the Domperidone this time. Around 8 pm, he becomes ravenous and drinks 3-4 bottles in addition to what he gets breastfeeding over the next 3-4 hours! A small tub of formula is lasting five days, whereas the 730g tin was lasting only about 3 days with his brother at the same age.

I'd love it if things magically started working this time, but I'm not holding out much hope. I need to have formula in reserve!
