Some of the well-heeled women at Gymboree this morning. One was buying hundreds of dollars in stuff and scolding the older friend who was with her. "Honestly, why don't you go and buy it? You always do this. You always come with me and have fun, and then you don't buy the things you like. Remember that GAP sweater we saw last week? You liked it, and I bet you're kicking yourself that you didn't buy it then. You're going to be kicking yourself later if you don't buy it (I'm not sure what it was) today, too. Really!" Her tone was anything but light.
The salesclerks at the counter actually stopped ringing purchases through in order to watch. I stood there schlumpily with my modest purchase and 20% off coupon, wishing I was someplace else.
First world problem!
