This week i've been sick as dog with a cold, sore throat, eye and ear infections. I went to the doctor on monday and he gave me antibiotics for my ears and eyes. My cold is gone and my eyes are all cleared up, but this freakin ear infection is driving me NUTS!!! The pain is gone, but now they are sooo plugged up with a lot of pressure and ringing, but the worst part of it is I can hardly hear!!! People say something to me and I cant hear a word they are saying, its very frustrating, especially when at work.

I went back to the doctors yesterday, and she said all I have left in my ears is fluid and she said to take advil cold and sinus and a nose spray.

I'm going insane not being able to hear, last night I had the tv volume at 28! usually i only have it at about 9 or 10.

Anyone else have hearing loss this bad with a ear infection? Any tips? I'M DESPERATE!!!

I'm not sure if you've tried it yet...whenever I get ear infections and am left with the plugged up feeling I sleep on a heating pad with a towel over it and everything sort of melts its way out orver a night or two

The advil cold+sinus was like magic for me! I was in the hospital twice last fall for extreme pain and dizziness due to inner ear infections. Now when I fell sinus/ear congestion I take a acs and have had no severe problems since, I did have to take them daily for a while to get better.

I think there are only three reasons for the Ear infection. When we going for the bath at that time we have to clean our nose, ear ,eyes all the parts of the body very closely. The medicine for the ear infection is advil cold+sinus like the magic for the ears.

Yes, when I went back to the doctors a second time, they told me to take advil cold and sinus. My ears are slowly getting better (i can hear again), but today I have a VERY sore throat again, so sore I can hardly swallow or talk. ugh.

I did look in my throat and did'nt see any white things. I'll give it a few more days and see how it goes.

I grew up having constant ear infections (3+ every winter). Whenever I feel one starting, I heat up a hand towel in the dryer & press it against my ear. I also use vinegar as a preventative - I mix up a concoction of half white vinegar & half rubbing alcohol & put a few drops in each ear once a month. I give my dog (who's prone to ear infections) the same treatment. Neither of us have had an ear infection in years.

    Hope you feel better soon.

I've also found good success with this method. I had nearly constant ear infections year-round for about 4 years as a youngster. The heat trick can be good too - also be sure to keep your ears covered with a warm toque in the winter as the cold can exacerbate any existing inflammation.

Another tip is to take some hydrogen peroxide on a Q-tip and swirl it around the inside of your ear - as far in as you comfortably can - to kill the bacteria in there. This has helped me a lot in the past.

    Feel better and good luck!
