At Sport Check, its $4/pair or you can buy a skate sharpening card for $29.99 which will give you 10 sharpenings.

I have a pair of VERY old, practically antique, skates that I would love to get sharpened, but I'm a little scared that they'll fall apart. I'm glad to know it won't cost very much to find out!

Depends what kind of sharpening you want and what type of activity you are doing. In our personal experience Sportchek is incompetent at sharpening - we have never had a good sharpen. So even when they give out free sharpening coupons we decline.
For hockey players go to a store that knows what they are doing - it is worth the extra couple of bucks. We trust the place in Kinsmen Arena, United Cycle, and Pro Skate. Since my son likes the Flat bottom V sharpen we go to the Grind. $8/sharpen but worth it as it usually lasts twice as long
