So glad to hear he is doing better. I re-read my post and I meant to say the lactulose was behind the counter at the pharmacy. Sorry to hear you went on a bit of a goose chase but at least you know how to deal with the change in his personality in the future.
Try out a new money maker website called LikeNet. Get paid to like websites on FB! Pays better than the other online sites too! Also still need referrals for Superpoints, if you're interested!

Glad to hear things are better - and the vaseline will also help curb hairballs!

I am glad he is eating!
If they don't seem really really sick, I always try vaseline and syringe feeding first - its usually what my vet says to do anyway, I usually keep a can of Hills A/D in the house just in case (its part of their prescription food, but used for cats getting over illness (easy to digest ingredients and extra calories etc) and very liquidy so easy to syringe feed etc). Not a fan of Hills foods but for some reason, most cats will eat it while on a hunger strike, when I volunteered at the animal shelter, we always kept a case of it on hand
As far as med prices, my vet will use the compound name and many are available in pharmacies for humans for other uses and they are much cheaper that way. So always ask if they can be bought from a non vet label. Sometimes the pills need to be halved etc but at 1/4 of the price, worth it.You aren't earning $25+ every month using Swagbucks to search? Thanks everyone; I am very pleased to see that 'the walking stomach' is back to his old self again. He's even up to his usual antics which include throwing himself on the stairs when I am trying to bring a basket of laundry up from the laundry room; it requires me to set the basket on a step and grab his bum while he pretends that I am keeping him from moving and dragging his body up the stairs by his front paws - the cat needs his own youtube channel.
Now if only his brother will stop acting like there is a new cat in the house & quit growling & hissing at him. Of course he ends up running & hiding since his brother is feeling better & more than willing to follow him everywhere without growling or hissing back at him.

I'm glad he's feeling better. Thanks for the update
It's upsetting when a pet is sick.
