The worst thing a dog ever did to me was to tear open the Christmas presents that my mother-in-law had left for us, which my husband had hidden in the closet. Seamus *loved!* tearing open packages. I woke up a few days before Christmas and found the "goods" unharmed but scattered around the closet with the cardboard and wrappings shredded. To this day, my mother-in-law does not believe I didn't open the presents early due to impatience. Try the "my dog opened my presents" excuse on *your* mother-in-law and see how far you get. (BTW, I love her like my own mom...but, to this day, that woman does not trust me with presents in advance.)
