We're starting to potty train our two years old son. We're doing very well as he is telling us when he needs to go pee but pooing is a different story.

My main question is how do you get your son to pee in a public washroom toilet? We were at a doctor's office and he told me he had to pee. I took off his pant and diaper and layered the toilet seat with toilet paper because at home he sits down on his own potty to pee. Guess he felt uncomfortable because he refused to pee.

Most likely he will need to get to used to using the big boy potty at home before attempting elsewhere. Let him watch you or his father or other male influence sit and use the toilet so he can see it is a normal thing to do.

One word of advice though is to make absolute certain you cover up the auto flush on the toilets in public. My own daughter was about 3 and it went off and she ran down the mall hall way with just her bathing suit top on screaming and crying before I could grab her.

I ordered a free toilet seat cover from the Huggies points. It is portable and folds up. This may help and you don't have to waste time using toilet paper that never stays put! It is a work in progress, and it takes time. Good luck and hang in there.
