    PAIN IS TEMPORARY...PRIDE IS FOREVER.
Discipline is remembering what you want.
Never trade what you want the most for what you want at the moment.
Don't give up on a dream just because of the length of time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyways.

Dh and I both have class untill 9:30, so we are going out to Casey's Restaurant since they are open until 2:00 am. We always do cute things threw out the year (buying flowers, sappy cards ext), but always make a point of making sure we do something nice on V-day for each other we don't buy gifts, we just go out for dinner. I agree its a commercial holiday, but its cute and I think it reminds couples that they need to take time out of everyday life for each other.

This year, I plan on making DH a nice heart shaped box full of his favourite treats
and I am trying my hand at making chocolate, since he's quit smoking he has turned into a chocoholic.
I'm going to attempt to make
    Mint chocolate (his favorite!)
    chocolates with caramel inside
    plain milk and dark chocolates.

I'm going to add in some chocolate covered banana chips (if I don't eat them first! lol)
    strawberry gummies
    Nerds (the candy)
    Jelly beans
    mini chocolate chip cookies

We don't do valentines at our place. The first year DH and I were dating, I had told him that I didn't want to do anything for the day. He said okay and I thought that was that. Feb. 13th he calls me up around 9pm after he finished work and told me that one of his coworkers had psyched him out and tried to convince him that I was playing a game or being manipulative or something and actually WANTED cards, flowers, chocolates, etc. etc.! The poor guy was sweating bullets and was calling to make sure that I was really okay with getting nothing

Gee...not too many romantics amongst us (count me in with this group).

It is a marketing move for the most part. It's much better to appreciate your SO on a day to day basis. That said, we will have a nice meal at home followed by a decadent dessert.

I would love to celebrate V-day - my partner hates it. But he usually goes all out for my birthday - just before the 14th - so I do feel appreciated. Last year he gave me three weekend away teasers and I got to pick my own birthday weekend adventure: we ended up skiing.

It was so much fun when the kids were young...I'd make pink valentine heart pancakes which they'd roll their eyes at and laugh, but I knew it wouldn't be the same if I didn't make them...DD always brings flowers home and some trinket or other (another bead for my Pandora bracelet would be nice!)...we used to do cards but now I'd rather spend that money on something else...and I have NO idea what to treat him to this year...maybe a really decadent chocolate dessert, movie and wine...no diet that day!

I asked dh to use one of his vacation days so we will all stay in and just spend time together. we might rent a movie or something on the cable box but it will be the 3 1/2 of us spending time together as a family (me, dh, ds, and ds#2 that i will be about 23 weeks pregnant with on valentines day). since i have gestational diabetes there will be no chocolates or candy for me and i'm not really a fan of flowers. i think dh is planning on cooking me a special meal since i dont feel like going out most of the time lately i said i didnt want to go out on a date i just wanted family time and to relax at home.

We probably won't do much. No babysitter, but I have a secret hope that he'll remember.
