Hi Everyone,
I would like to stock up on chicken and freeze them but the chicken I have been buying locally is old. I've been to Valumart, Foodland, Metro and Freshco at Toronto East end and the chicken looks grey and yellow and smells
I was thinking of renewing my Costco card but seeing as I don't go there often enough ...maybe there is a Costco group on this forum where a few of us can go together.
Any idea where I could get some great chicken but not cost an arm and a leg? Thanks.

I get my chicken at the Asian supermarkets, my favourite being Oriental Food Mart (in the Chinatown on Spadina, there are other locations in Scarborough). I purchased two lbs of very fresh tasty boneless, skinless chicken breast today for $2.99/lb at Best Win Supermarket (Victoria Park south of Eglinton). There's a lot of these markets in the East End, I'm sure you can find one convenient to you. The key is to look for a place with high turnover.

Yay! Thanks so much Trinigal. I was thinking about going to China Town but I was not sure where to go. Also Vic Park and Eglington is not too far from me.

There is actually a deal on Wag Jag Grocery for 4kg of frozen chicken breasts for $34 (It works out to $8.50/kg which I think is a good price). You order & pay online and then pick up your order at participating locations throughout the GTA. I have placed an order for the first time and am hoping the chicken is good quality!
Here is the link if you are interested:

The best place to go for chicken is Maple Lodge Farm. It's in Brampton.
