After seeing an open box of olymel chicken with the coupon booklet missing AND a tear pad literally emptied within minutes ( I took 3 and came back the the juice aisle because I forgot something and the tearpad was empty when a few minutes earlier it was full!)
I decided to start writing a CCC or couponing code of conduct. There has to be ways to do it with pride and not make the few of us look like idiots with behaviors like I saw today. This is ridiculous!
So here it is and feel free to add!
1. Always purchase the product if you want the coupon(s) that come with it
2. Take only the coupons you need
3. Read the coupon before using it instead of leaving it to the cashier to ignore the small prints and accept it, knowingly committing a fraud.
4. Be kind to your cashier.
5. Do not clear the shelf! If you really need that many items, make a few trips to different locations.
6. Do not buy coupons. It encourages an industry that should not exist and coupons are null if transferred. This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by ArmyWifeEdmonton; Wed, Feb 8th, 2012 at 08:19 AM.

I take 3 coupons. Even my 7 year old daughter knows that 'rule'.

There is no such thing as a coupon code of Conduct, I take what I need but you cannot not make everyone behave and think of the next person that comes around.. there is always people that are rude about it.. and it doesnt mean they are on SC either... plenty of couponers out there that are not on here

This is from another post, but I thought it was great. It's called Considerate Couponing.

Thanks Army Wife, I'm glad someone has actually started this.. but Edmonton is bad for coupon horders.. I hope this new CCC puts some sense in all of us, we do not need a grocery store in our homes.. all we need is enough for the family.

I totally agree that we need to be considerate and I and think it's gross to open packages to take out anything, but I think #2 goes against what many people come to this board for. If we only took what we needed, we wouldn't be trading. I only take a max of 5, and then take more on the next trip, but if I only took what I needed, I'd be leaving a lot of coupons for products I don't buy on the shelf.

Couponing has really changed over the last few months, I've noticed there has been a huge amount of new couponers in Edmonton! Edmonton is a booming community of couponers right now and unfortunately I don't think that people think of the next couponer before ripping off an entire tear pad, clearing a shelf, or ripping a sticky off of a product they dont plan on purchasing.
I don't think having standards or coupon codes of conducts will be effective, I love the idea, dont get me wrong ArmyWifeEdmonton. It's a great post, but there's been posts like this before where the good hearted couponers post coupon etiquette but unfortunately we've never seen an impact.
Many couponers I've ran into lately havent been from smart canucks, I want to say in general the smart canucks coupon community is pretty good for not swipping entire tear pads etc.
It should be common sense not to rip an entire tear pad, or clear an entire shelf but clearly we have a lot of people in edmonton that would disagree.

That happened to me. I seen a tearpad full, both sides, i took 6 and went up the isle further, then thought maybe ill take a couple more for my bestie, i came down the isle and it took me less then 2 minutes, boom!, both pads were empty and still moving!...i was so unimpressed, im a newbie and even I know you should think of others...

I have been couponing for years now, and I don't have much for a selection of coupons because everytime I do a walk through a store, entire tear pads are gone, and nothing is left. I see the possible coupons out there from the EMPTY tear pads.
What really got me was a display of hair dye that had once had 3 different tear pads attached to it and not one single coupon left. The display was new and I had only been to that store one week prior and the display wan't there at that time .What is wrong with people.
If I ever see someone opening up a product to get coupons.........believe me, that person is gonna be wishing that they never there house.

To those of you who don't think a Couponing Code of Conduct would help, I say it can't hurt. Armywife, good for you! That's how rules/guidelines/etiquette/ etc. get started, someone takes that initial step. If we keep talking about it, it will eventually make an 'impact'. Otherwise what is the alternative? No more couponing at all? Look at all the changes in the past few months, with stacking-quanitites-price-matching, etc. One of the reasons why a 'system' breaks down or is negatively impacted is because someone breaks the rules. The reason does not matter, just the outcome.
