Question for the tech savy gods.... 1. can you download this for I-Phone only and not mess with it's functions( phone, texting, e-mail etc) does it interfere with my carrier and plan, hope that made sense. 2. If you switch settings on computer for this program do you have to manually switch it back and forth when you want to surf the net etc. Sorry dh is the tech genius in our house but he's away right now and can't explain this to me. LOL

Ok..so Im lost here but this sounds interesting...which sites specifically are we talking about watching shows on? Can I have an example of one of each? what I mean is an example of a site that wont work for me until I do this thing...then a site that would work whether I sign up to this or not...thanks!

The only real annoying thing besides the drop downs is that I normally use Chrome for my browser however everything I click on a link it brings up a blank IE page as well or depending upon the link a page geared towards adult entertainment.

Try http://www.comedycentral.com/
It should automatically redirect you to the Canadian site http://www.thecomedynetwork.ca/
Once you set up Unblock-us, try again going to Comedy Central. It should give you full access with no redirection.
As for sites that you can watch shows on, there's a lot but here's a few:
Hulu.com
NBC.com
Fox.com
ABC.com
TheCW.com
Syfy.com
bbc.co.uk (United Kingdom shows, open the iplayer)
channel4 (UK shows)
player.itv.com (UK shows)
If you subscribe to Netflix, your selection will automatically show the US available content instead of the Canadian available content. This is huge because Canadian Netflix is terrible compared to what is available in the US.

I meant for hotspot shield. What I get is drop down ads or blank drop ads on Chrome since I installed.
Also when I click on links in Chrome it will bring up the parent company link in IE that I can see at the bottom of my page. It brings up multiple pages of it and occasionally adult themed pages too.
I will do a scan for adware as you are most likely correct.

There is nothing to download. You simply set up your DNS in your router settings. Then connect your iPhone to your home network. Done. Now if you try to watch US only shows fro your home (while on your home WIFI) it should work.
This has absolutely nothing to do with your phone functions, so no you aren't going to mess anything up.
As for your last question. Of course not. Your net works exactly the same, except instead of being blocked on US sites, you won't be.
When your trial ends however and you try to access US sites to watch tv shows, you will be directed to the Unblock-us website to tell you your trial is over. At this point you can either pay $4.99 to keep using it, or just go into your router settings and remove using their DNS servers.

this doesn't change your ip address, right? my first concern was that I'd end up being deactivated from swagbucks etc. for using a U.S. ip address from Canada - but in reading through this thread, it sounds like all it's doing is re-directing the traffic through their servers, and my ip address would remain the same - am I understanding that correctly?

Yes, it does not change anything with your IP address. In fact it does not interfere with any site other than the tv show/movie websites that require their trick to bypass.
