This is such an amazing program. I've been using it for 3 weeks now and it's amazing how well it works.
It's called www.unblock-us.com
They give you a 7 day trial and it's absolutely free, no info needed other than signing up with an email address.
All you do is change your DNS settings in your router to point to their servers:
Preferred DNS server 208.122.23.22
Alternate DNS server 208.122.23.23
And then you reboot the router. Now every site that has access to full episodes online for US only residents will WORK! It also gives you full access to the BBC iPlayer and BBC iTV player in the UK.
If you subscribe to Canadian Netflix with this program on you will automatically get FULL access to the US Netflix content. Thousands and thousands of tv shows and movies that the Canadian version doesn't have.
You can watch Hulu.com, tv shows at TBS, TheCW, TheWB, Fox, ABC, NBC, Syfy, Comedy Central, SouthParkStudios, basically ANY US website that you can think of is supported.
You have to do absolutely nothing after the initial setup, just go to the website of your choice and enjoy the content. After 7 days the trial simply ends and if you want to continue you can pay $4.99/month or simply remove the DNS server addresses in your router to go back to normal.
As I said, I have been using this service for a few weeks now and I am HOOKED. I can watch tv shows on Comedy Network, then head over to the BBC website and watch UK shows.
If you need help setting it up let me know. It's really quite easy though. They have a set up guide to help you on their website. This thread is currently associated with: The Bargain Shop

This sounds great - I am always watching TV online and it's so annoying when you can't watch shows outside of US. I'll have to give this a try! Thanks!

Legal?

Yep! That's the beauty of it. They use DNS geolocation rerouting loopholes to get around geo-blocking (how websites block you) and it's not illegal to do this.
I won't pretend I understand that entirely, but I've researched it a bit. This type of service is becoming very popular now and other companies are starting to offer the same.
There's also UnoTelly.com which offers the same service (with a trial) but I've never tried them.
Up til now to access US sites outside of the country people would have to pay for VPN services, which is a tunneling service that you would connect to (in the US) and access sites through them. This way you are at the mercy of the VPN provider, your speeds can be effected.
What's great about this site is that it simply uses a DNS trick, so you can stream as fast as your internet speed will let you.
Can't mention a certain Canadian forum that is quite popular and similar to Smartcanucks, but there is a HUGE thread about this service over there with over 160,000 views and 1000 replies. Everyone seems to love this service.Last edited by BobSagget; Thu, Feb 2nd, 2012 at 01:04 PM.

your giving them your router (your entire network) to watch TV ?

lol what are you talking about? You are simply setting up your DNS entry to use THEIR servers instead of the default (Rogers, Bell, etc). This definitely does not give them any access to your router or network.
It's the exact same thing as if you wanted to use Google's free DNS servers.
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/
Or OpenDNS http://www.opendns.com/
Both free and work exactly the same as Unblock-us does but without using a geolocation loophole.
You aren't giving them anything.Last edited by BobSagget; Thu, Feb 2nd, 2012 at 01:33 PM.

Some quick googling about this leaves me suspicious. The blocks are in place because of legal issues to begin with. Removing the blocks through third-party paid services seems shady at best. It does look like lots of people are using it, but I don't think I'll join them.

Thanks Bob, I'll have my son check into this. It drives me nuts not being able to see US channels, when they can view ours!

If I am not wrong, we can see US shows that are on Canadian television stations, online: Global, CTV, CityTV.
We can see US news shows online: CBS, NBC, ABC.
Shows like Once Upon a Time is on CTV, for example
