I was in Jean Coutu on Wednesday Feb 1 & noticed the Brookside chocolate covered almonds on sale for $2.99 so took 2 ...when I got to the cash it rang up for $4.29 ..price was checked & there was a sale price sticker of $ 2.99 but after arguing with the asst. manager that I should get it free as per the "politique" he said No as the sticker was forgotten to be removed sale ended Jan 31 . Anyhow he offered to sell them to me for $2.99..
....has this ever happened to anyone ,what is he right has anyone ever been in this situation ???
    Thanks

Even if the sticker was forgot, you shoul have it at the lowest price, at least for one, and the other is free.

LOL (and not AT you Diva). We had the same, I mean SAME issue at Zellers today! Pillow we wanted had HUGE sign next to it saying $6.58 but it was ringing up at $7.78. Cashier and manager tried to pull the same BS and said "oh it was left over from the sale that's ended" and just wanted to give it to us at the lower price without the SCOP. DH wouldn't budge and told them that it's not our issue they didn't remove the price, it was a huge sign, etc and we should get it for free.

After seeing that he was there for the long run, manager gave it to him.

It seems a lot of stores are trying to pull this and I would say it works 8 times out of 10 because most people will just allow it.

Is there a tel # that you can call for SCOP issues? Or perhaps the bureau de protection des consommateurs?

Is there a list somewhere of stores who DO or DON'T adhere to the Scanning Code of Practice?

    According to http://www.competitionbureau.gc.ca/e...eng/01262.html

If a Code of Practice problem cannot be resolved at the store level, please call 1-866-499-4599 to register your complaint.

Miaow ...Good for you to stand your ground & get it free . I argued but the manger was adamant about it & he did not agree that it was free for 1 & 2nd one at that price just like AnnieP said. I did not want to make a scene, my cousin was waiting for me . I am going to call the JC head office & also thx for the # Arielmac ...will let you know what they say...this is not the first time this has happened to me...

taka, not sure if the manager is the same but when I used to live in Chinatown, I would go to that pharmacy & the staff were not so nice It' also the only place I've EVER been told by the main pharmacist THREE times "We don't have the medicine you need. Go elsewhere" without even checking their systems. Not a good place to go generally.

Here ya go, participation is voluntary by way - Edited to add: ... apparently mandatory in Quebec , see posts below.

I believe in Quebec, participation is by LAW, and not voluntary like other provinces.

AHA ! You Miss, just taught me something... though it took a few tries to find a reliable point of reference:

Art. 223 of Loi sur la Protections des Consommateurs only says: "223. Un commerçant doit indiquer clairement et lisiblement sur chaque bien offert en vente dans son établissement ou, dans le cas d'un bien emballé, sur son emballage, le prix de vente de ce bien, sous réserve de ce qui est prévu par règlement."

And their website FAQ only mentions "... Engagement Volontaire"

    BUT, Ding Ding Ding

    This site mentions "
