I would LOVE to see if this idea could be taken to include Animal Shelters. It seems alot of people are always helping out other organizations( don't get me wrong that's great) but who advocates for our 4-legged friends?

My last big donation was to the local Men's Shelter--50 bags full of men's products (b/c let's face it there are a lot more girl friendly product coupons sometimes than those for the boys)
Try to donate $25 worth of groceries a week to the local foodbank but my supply of coupons is not very vast or varied at the moment LOL
Anyone want to trade $100 of coupons for an envie of $100 of coupons to keep my donation train on track?
Without coupons I wouldn't be able to donate nearly as much--My household has hit financial hard times again but there are always people that are worse off in my opinion so I shall Keep Calm and Donate On ;-)

If we do this we should organize it so everybody knows what we are doing and if they have friends wanting to help they can print it off and tell them because some people might just get some junk and what charitys we are going to donate. We should also all support people who dont have a lot of coupons/money since this should be a group effort for the great country of canada!

I would jump at the chance to donate to local shelters. I actually prefer to donated to the animals then other organizations if I am truthful. But my problem is I have a hard time getting items for very cheap or free that animals can use, otherwise I cannot donate as the cost of my own 3 kitties plus two humans is expensive enough.

When we go to garage sales in the summer I always look for boxes of bed sheets/old blankets and usually offer the person a few bucks for the whole box. Then it goes straight to the shelter. Its the best way I've found to donate on my budget.

Also, shelters often need office supplies too and the dollar store comes in handy for that.

I like to stock pile when sales are on and give to the shelters. One thing that was pointed out to me close to Christmas was that the food banks would also love toiletries. The patrons in my area are only allowed one grocery bag a month from the bank and quite often the small things like toothpaste, shampoo etc are worth more than the food so they get more bang for their buck in the one bag. I was able to donate alot of toothpaste with the Crest Pro FPCs.

As well, I give boxes of toiletries, etc to friends who have fallen on hard times. I am saving for a friend who is a single mom and pregnant. She will give up her job to raise the baby for a while so needs a little help. I am working on my own wall of diapers for her. SDM is a great place to shop for those items right now.
I love Listia! Get and give free stuff! I have already won FPCs, icoke codes, and more! Sign up through my link and get 450 free credits.
