My husband is determined to get a free deal of the week because they usually don't ask us. Problem is he waits until we've paid & started walking away before he tells me they didn't ask us.
When should he tell the cashier? Should he wait until they ring everything in (I figure that's too late cuz they won;t remember if they asked or not) or should he ask when they start ringing things in? (but I'm assuming that's too soon cuz they'll say they were just about to ask) :shrug:
I believe you have to wait until the end of your transaction.
Just tell the cashier you didn't mention the deal of the week after you get your receipt and change.That's what I do when they don't mention deal of the week.

I always get nervous and don't bother asking... Do the cashiers ever give you a hard time?
It is written up and sometimes the cashier gets grief from their supervisors. So, you won't be doing them any favors. This program stinks, I'd rather get my deals another way.Quote:

That's what I thought. A Zellers cashier once forgot to ask me about the HBC credit card and when I asked for 10 000 points she froze and claimed that her manager was in an absolute mood that day. She was still on probation and I was by no means going to make her lose her job because she didn't ask about a card I know I don't want.
It is thier job though. I used to work at a Shell & I had to greet everyone, upsell a carwash/washerfluid/oil/etc. Ask if they have Airmiles. Maybe upsell an airmiles promo or push them to the next point. At one time we had to ask people to sign up for the easy pay tags and at the end we had to "personalize" the transaction. Besides all that we had to keep the store & property clean & stocked. If we didn't do it we lost points & too many lost points could get you fired. If a cashier at Superstore who has nothing else to do but scan items & push a couple buttons finds it too hard to ask a couple questions they shouldn't be working there. I can understand if they ask about a charity instead, or if they don't speak english but usually it's punk kids who just don't care enough to do thier job.
Every single time I'm at Walmart they ask if I found what I was looking for. Half the time I didn't but say I did so I can just imagine how many people rip thier heads off but they all still ask :shrug:
Where do you find the policys for this? They dont always ask me if I'll be doubling my points (and I dont mind because it's a little annoying), but if they dont mention it you can get free points? I didnt know thisQuote:

I hated pestering people like that. I hate it when it's done to me at the store when I am shopping.
I also found out that my manager got a bonus when her employees met a quota for the number of PC Children's Charity $2 offers we got in a day. Like on a Saturday. It was kind of a regional competition.
The cashiers did not get anything.:sad:
How can they give bonus's on a charity!?!? OMG.
At least when we had to sign people up for the paypass thing Shell gave us $2 for each person we signed up plus our district manager matched it out of his own pocket. I think I made an extra $600 that month :cheesygrin:
I can guarantee that working at Superstore uses a larger skill set than working as a gas station attendant, but I am not one to belittle other people's jobs. BTW, how many customers would you put through on any given day? Most likely not as many as at a grocery store...it's like comparing apple and oranges as far as I'm concerned.Quote:

I never knew about this at RCSS until the lady in front of me did it one day and the cashier was really rude to her and just hastily handed it to her.
I would think a good time to ask is as your paying because the transaction is still open in the til but is primarily over, That way the free item can be accounted for on your bill - ie rung in then zero'd out. That way they are all set for inventory and it doesn't look stolen.
