Thread: FPC and Bottle Deposit

Okay..question..
I redeemed a couple of Oasis Free Juice (from the Nature Valley Granola bars) at Joe Howe Superstore. I was charged 8 x 0.10 cents for the bottle deposit. Should I have been charged for that? I didn't really question it but I re-read the coupon later and it says" ....will reimburse you for the shelf price of the specified products plus regular handling fee and applicable taxes provideded you accept...." Now there is not tax on the juice boxes, but there is the bottle deposit...
Should I have been charged bottle deposit? or should that have been covered under taxes or handling fees?
Help! Thanks! This thread is currently associated with: Real Canadian Superstore RCSS

You need to pay the deposit. It's not a tax. It's an incentive so it doesn't end up in the land fill.
Good news is that when you bring back the bottles, you'll get your money back.

Rats..I figured that
We definitely return our bottles, it's called Hubby's Timmies Fund. Oh well can't argue with 0.80 cents for juice boxes and they're YUMMY!

the taxes and handling fee part is for the retailer, not the consumer, you still have to pay the bottle deposits

You do get the refund back for the deposit you paid, but only half...so if you pay 0.10, you will get 0.05 back from the bottle depot...
