As an avid gardener i am shocked to see 0 posts and 0 views. I've come to the conclusion this must be a new thread, and i'm ecstatic to be the first post.
At the beginning of the season there are many deals on dirt/mulch as well as tools & accessories. Garage/plant sales are also a great place to find things you may need.
I am hoping that we can post any great deals we find or any tips we may have to share with our sc family.
Have a plan and budget.
Decide what projects you plan to tackle this year.
Prioritize what can wait and what cannot be put off any longer.
must have tools
gloves
rake
weed puller
trowel
spade
pruner/lopper
kneepad
watering can
these can be purchased at end of season for the next year at next to nothing. This thread is currently associated with: GarageJOIN NOW WIN BIG in the Survivor Pool starting in the Spring

wel a very rainy day here, so jump for joy, the weeds will slide right out of the ground with just a gentle tug. And seeing as though I just laid some seed this is great don't you just love mother nature

it is later than we wanted BUT we are still planting today, just about half way done, kids and I are taking a break (and a NAP! hahah!) and waiting for the hubby to get home so we can get more done. LOVE veggie and fruit gardening, still new to it all, and especially new to flower gardening, but it all has been so good so far!
My favs that we have added to the garden this year, a strawberry patch, blueberry bushes, and hopefully we will be successful with watermelon this year (last year it just didnt take). Not only do we save thousands by just eating out of the garden the health benefits are massive!! AND THE TASTE!!! ohhh i could go on and on and on, I have a feeling this gardening section could be my new favorite sectionwww.facebook.com/perduemassageclinic good things come to those who like my page

Finally a Gardening Section!
I have only been gardening for about 5 years now and that was mostly flowers with a small veggie patch.I have only had a bit bigger veggie garden 7x 12 since last summer. I built a raised bed last year and planted in rows of veggies.
This year I am giving Square foot gardening a try. This is super simple to do too. I found this great video on Youtube that explained very easily and simply how to do it.Last edited by itsmewhoelse; Fri, Jun 1st, 2012 at 09:33 PM.

I miss the garden, since we became empty nesters and I got sick, we sold and are now in a condo. I do have a tomato and a pepper plant on my patio though, and some flowers. Itl's not quite the same, but at least it's something
We all need a little sunshine every now and then

OMG, I sooo excited to see another SFGer here !!! Last year was my first year gardening and SFGing.... I loved it ! Never thought I'd be able to grow anything since I've been a houseplant killer in the past but I had plenty of harvest. What province are you in ? There's an SFG forum out there if you ever need it.
Cheers !Last edited by Tbites; Wed, Jun 13th, 2012 at 04:28 AM.
