Miss Mystery (last plant)-*may* be a lily plant that someone gave Mom a year or two ago. The bud shapes prompted that guess.
Daffodils and tulips are not ready yet. Scilla remain happy lawn campers in the "nook."

Well the snow is going at a pretty good pace finally! Most of my garden areas are uncovered. What a mess! Really need to get my temp fence up to keep the dog out of the mud and plants! I dont have any spring bulbs yet. Cant wait, my seeds I started are now mostly plants.

The most serious gardening I do would seem very strange to an onlooker, for it involves hours of walking round in circles, apparently doing nothing." --Helen Dillon

did anyone notice the $1 cute little mini greenhouses with either strawberries or herbs seeds in the dollar bins by cash registers at Target? I am giving the cilantro one a try right now, successfully sprouted, now waiting for next stage to happen.

No, I totally missed the mini greenhouses but did not think Target was going for the gardening crowd at all.

Here's to your spring flowers coming along, Natalka! I did some gardening cleanup in Mom's space (4 yard bags of branches and stuff that Dad put in years ago and I cannot stand the mess or the risk underfoot they represent) today and there are clumps of gladioli? tips poking up, two knobby roots that suggest kohlrabi by the peach tree, leek (not onions or garlic as posted earlier), some greens that Mom said was Swiss chard (think baby spinach leave sizes), a forgotten carrot from October harvest, and many little green things with two little green leaves unfurling. And several lady bugs sitting semi-buried on soil surfaces but they got walking/flying when I cleared up the surface! Birds in the little birdhouse-hope they dine on the grubs and insects that are easier to find!

A clump of something that look like daffodils leaves-to be continued. I find oak leaves a proper nuisance-they seem to have latched onto fencing, plant stalks, nooks, edges under siding. Need a mulcher...

So--I glanced at the $1 garden kits briefly in Target. Hey, alpine strawberry (I read that those berries are small in a book)--sold! Will find out soon if there will be a plant or not. Not something one finds at the gardening centre, as the book I read indicated a US source for the plant.

I did visit Cdn Tire's garden centre-basic herb selection (sage, basil, parsley), veg (beefstake tomatoes) and mostly flowers/grasses. Nothing that said-buy me! Wind was knocking over the wheeled carts for casting grass seed. Front sidewalk had small pallet of 20L top soil bags-supposedly 97 cents if you have the arm strength and car to cart bags into cash then back out again!
Check your local Fortino's stores for when the garden centres are opening (this week!).

Clematis, hosta, and heather I was waiting for the hosta to make an appearance. I got a jumbo roll of landscape fabric, plastic edging, and bark mulch 2 weeks ago for a spring project. Need to get some compost/manure tomorrow and get my raised garden box ready for the first row of lettuce.

Tulips came up just this week! Also, bloodroot is flowering and jack in the pulpits are just poking through. I love my jacks.

Well, I'm stumped. To me, it looks like some sort of hyacinth. Does is smell like a hyacinth? Whatever it is, it sure is pretty
