Do you have children? Because if I didn't have an ac I'm pretty sure it's close to being child abuse to force a child to sweat!

i could kind of understand if your Hydro was included in the rent...but if you're paying your own seperate Hydro...I really can't think of a reason for them to not allow AC.

I just talked to the super. I can have an air conditioner. I am however responsible for any damage that occurs. Needless to say I am going to take time stamped pics of the window before I put it in. Just to find the right model for the right price.

What about the Dyson Air Multiplier? It can be used in a room and there is no need for the window? Not sure how pets would be kept away from trying to jump through the ring but...
If a store where you have a loyalty card or points offer on a sale weekend that covers such appliances, that is when you'd move on a purchase.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

those things are like $300 plus...up to like $500.... and its a fan.
Essentially the same as a $20 fan. No cooling effect whatsoever.
I got my A/C window unit for less than one of those puppies- And my apartment is nice and cool!
Glad you talked it out and can get one in!
I am worried this summer as my landlord said something about charging me extra for the A.C?! but he never charged me last summer. Instead of hijacking this thread i should just make my own thread ranting about this@! WOOO!

In case anyone in Ontario is interested in a Dyson 10" Air Multiplier Fan, the Aug24-30 Future Shop flyer (page 29) shows it for $279 (a saving of $100). Item is final clearance, limited quantities and no rainchecks. $100 saving also applies to all other Air Multiplier models.
Sears has the same offer too on the 10" model.

I guess i am late with this tip but it's something to think about for next year!
I don't like a/c so i had to find another solution to keep my house cool and the one thing that worked better than anything was hanging blinds over the windows on the OUTSIDE. This prevents the sun from hitting the window which creates most of the heat in the house.
At first i used jute cloth but it does look kind of ratty after a while, then i got lucky and at a garage sale i found RV blinds which were made for the outside of RV's. Outdoor blinds come in a variety of colors so they look ok on a house and stand up to weather.
People often remark at how cool my house is in summer and it does feel like i have a/c.. and it's cheap and green
