We use Off Skintastic, and it works well enough; we have tons of mosquitos here.
A stronger option is Deep Woods Off - more deet.
Remember to watch what level of deet to use for your kids - when our son was young we used the Skintastic for kids.

I always get bitten to pieces. My sister, who claims she gets eaten alive, uses me as a decoy. If anyone tells you to rub lemon juice on yourself to ward off mosquitoes, I have to say it didn't work for me or my friend.
We use the OFF Skintastic for Kids (even though there are no kids here). The DEET percentage is lower so DH won't absorb as much when he insists on wearing shorts and I feel a little better.

I have skintastic which works good enough in the day. But come dusk, I have sat there and literally had to drowned mosquitoes in it. I have found the deep woods is the only thing that works when the skeeters are in full force. If its evening I will use it on my kids too. Not that I am a fan of DEET at all. Have heard some rumors that original Listerine, keeps mosquitoes away. I am going try this year, see what I think.

There is no safe level of DEET, just like there's no daily allowable sugar limit on nutrition labels. It absorbs into the skin and affects the central nervous system. Health Canada has banned DEET levels over 30% and recommends a concentration of 10% or less on children between 2 - 12 and applied no more than 3 times a day.
When we're at the cottage, I put the clothes on the concrete floor, spray them, then put them on. That limits the amount of skin contact. I make sure arms and legs are covered and also wear a hat. Every day we go out, I respray and rewear those same clothes (officially dubbed my "outdoor clothes"), and change indoors. I stay out as little as possible with the "skeeters".
Hopefully, where you're going it won't be as extreme, but when you're cleaning newly caught fish outside, mosquitoes literally swarm around us by the tens of thousands. Not for the faint of heart.

id love to hear more about the bounce sheets i just bought the OFF clip ons for the kids and i to use when we go camping this summer. the baby gets horrible bite marks, so we try to use as little deet on her as possible. we have tested the clip ons and they are well worth the money and no deet on the kids

I used bounce a few times now and it works pretty good, they have to be unused and they have to be bounce. The other sheets dont work as well.

My mom uses Listerine in a spray bottle...I thought she was nuts when I saw her but it worked...when we go outside she sprays the chairs etc with it and I guess they don;t like the alchahol smell or whatever but it keeps them at bay.

When Bounce sheets (unscented) are used, are you rubbing skin or clothing with the sheets? Or are you tucking the sheets into pockets?
