@22hicks, we're heading over to our DD's this evening...
Oh, I wish you a wonderful visit with your Granddaughter!! But I'm curious...what was the thing you bake/cook that she was looking forward to having again??
@avoncallingu....
Sausage tarts are all ready to go into the oven at DD's this evening...people (including me) gobble those things up like oinkers!! My late BFF used to bring those to get-togethers....
Now on to the butter tarts!! I may be forced to sample one before taking them over tonight.....

Thank you, we had a really nice visit. I can't tell you how much my heart was bursting.
They're called Social Tea Danties, an old English recipe. The recipe was handed down from my Great, Great GM, at least. Consists of crushed cookies, eggs, sugar, vanilla, butter, & marshmallows.

Hicks, I'm so very happy that you had such a wonderful time with your grand-daughter!
Lynn - enjoy the goodies and the company!
Dan - have a great vacation!
Nat - I hope everything is great with you and your family. Hoping Milan is feeling better and that you and your husband are great! Merry Christmas! I was trying to explain about the Orthodox Christmas to our nurses today. I always like leaving the tree up until then.
Happy Christmas, everyone!

Have a wonderful day, folks! Getting ready for Christmas with my family today. I think Santa has done his job. I even made a cheese and onion pie (a la my mother's tradition.)
I have a morning migraine thanks to the changing weather and just maybe because I have been imbibing on all the wonderful goodies that have come our way. Exedrine migraine will do it's wonderful job, though.
Peace and love to all of you at this special time of year!

I had no intention of sitting here, but DS is asleep in the basement, DH and other DS asleep upstairs....no tv on the main floor....sigh. I tried doing more prep for the dinner tomorrow, but now the things I want to do involve a noisy mixing machine...so that is out. Maybe I'll nap.
Whatever all you busy Mom's are doing on this day before Christmas, try to capture a moment of quiet for yourselves!!

Happy Christmas Eve, everyone!!
We're busy doing out prep-work for tomorrow: DH is making his antojito appys, Caesar salad dressing, cutting up the bread for the dressing...I've got two pie-shells in the oven for the..."mousse" pumpkin pies that were requested this year. I'm not sure I'm going to like them...I much prefer the traditional pumpkin pies, but the kids wanted to try something lighter, so it'll be what it'll be. Santa left a bottle of RumChatta under the tree this morning so I plan on sipping it this evening while watching yet another Christmas movie I've pvr'd.
@22hicks , I can only imagine how over-the-moon you are at having reuinited with your Granddaughter!! What a wonderful Christmas miracle for you!
@avoncallingu , have a wonderful Christmas day with your family...it's bound to be very special this year...
@walkonby , (Brat and you know why!), still cooking, baking, keeping busy...your Family is so blessed to have you!!!
@Darth Penguin , still keeping your dear Husband in my thoughts and prayers, and hoping for some good news very soon.
EVERYONE...................

^ That's a beautiful pic!
Well, I'm pooped and it isn't all done, of course.
Cabbage rolls baking, fish and potatoes ready to cook. Still will have to cook the perogies, sauerkraut/peas dish, and make the mushroom gravy.
We are supposed to fast today - but I can't since I get low blood sugar, so in the morning I had some toast, then snuck some rice and onions while I was making the holubtsi.
Now I just want to lie in bed and eat squares, lol!Last edited by Natalka; Sat, Dec 24th, 2016 at 05:25 PM.

I know you are all busy, but I needed a change of scenery - and a different place to park my butt for a while.
Glass and a half of a lovely white zinfandel, and I'm on my second cherry whiskey and root beer - not a bad replacement for pain killers, lol!
We had a lovely meal together - still are in good voice as we sang the traditional carol as a prayer before we ate.
Milan will come back tomorrow for supper and more visiting - and probably the next day after that.
Tomorrow we do a snackie supper - dips, cheese, crackers, sausage, ham, shrimp, mini quiche, etc. - whatever else I come up with.
