It's incredible that they do this! Good on you for catching on! Won't apply to me (non Onyx) but maybe it will help someone else.
I do have another question - If I book a flight with my AM for next year and then need to change the date, what kind of penalties are there?

Even Ellen Roseman chimed in on Air Miles' handling of the expiring dream miles issue. Here's the link:
Attention, Air Miles collectors. Any miles collected before 2012 and not used by Jan. 1, 2017, will expire worthless.
Air Miles should have been ready for a last-minute rush to trade miles for rewards after announcing a new five-year expiry date in late 2011.
Think again. Communication was so scanty that many customers learned of the upcoming expiry date only in the media, leading to a flood of calls that crashed the company’s ability to respond.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Ellen Roseman has started a petition in relation to the Air Miles points not being convertible between the two categories as a one-time courtesy gesture. https://www.thestar.com/business/per...n-roseman.html

So a law firm is trying to get a class action going.
I posted this in the other thread about the petition:
Here's the link I posted about:
https://www.reddit.com/r/PersonalFin...n_looking_for/
“JSS Barristers is currently evaluating a potential class action against Air Miles and its parent company LoyaltyOne. If you have any concerns or complaints regarding your use of or experience with the Air Miles program, please contact Andrew Wilson ([email protected]) or Kajal Ervin ([email protected]).”
Also, this a link to the open letter to air miles that is mentioned at the above site.
http://boomerandecho.com/open-letter-air-miles/
And here's another petition - this time to the attention of AM sponsors:
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/491/5...ing-companies/
Feel free to repost the links, forward them, etc.Don't know why it pasted in bold - can't seem to undo that.

did an o.k. transaction at Sobey's the other day. Spent $65.00, earned 49 AM!!
bought:
these 3 items to earn 25 BAM ( offer listed in flyer with a recipe ) OOP was under $7.00 to get the 25 BAM...woo hoo!
1 single lobster tail, @$5.99,
1 teensy red onion which came to .38
1 single red grapefruit was supposed to be $1.49, rang in as $1.99 ( so ended up free)
bought:
11 pkgs of mixed paper products ( 24 count TP, 6 count paper Towel and 6 count kleenex ) all were priced at $3.99 each and applied 11 x $1.00 off coupons on them
bought:
6 x pkgs Maple Leaf ( 375 gr) @ $2.77 each, applied 2 x B2G1 free peelies.
bought:
2 x 750 gr bags Cavendish flavour crisp wedges @ $2.99 each, applied 2 x $1.00 off them
I was a bit shy of the $65.00 I needed to spend to earn the Bonus 20 AM, but since DD was with me she kindly added her Halloween snack items to my tally, then reimbursed me ( sweet! )
I must laugh though, after buying a few 10 lb bags of lovely potatoes lately anywhere from $1.29 - $2.00 it seemed insane to buy those Cavendish frozen things, but I buckled under pressure since they are such a fast item for the guys to cook up for themselves.
This concludes my visit to Sobey's for a while.....unless they bring back those amazing AM offers on their GC's again!!Last edited by walkonby; Sat, Oct 29th, 2016 at 05:53 PM.
