Ok my fellow canuckers I am in need of some assistance please!
We (myself, hubby, 3 kids) have been invited to a birthday party for 8 yr twins (boy & girl) at The Play Cube (?). This is a first for me and I have NO IDEA what to get as a gift.
The family is doing well, but are NOT in your face about it. I am sure there will be games and food for everyone. I can't really skip this one as this family really welcomed the kids when they first attended the school. The principal made the introduction and she (mom giving the party) knew our kids were adopted and really went out of her way (and her daughter) to make us and the kids feel welcome. She has also showed me the ropes on the school and the programs. She is a BIG resource for me and the kids quickly became friends!
So any ideas?????? The party is this Saturday

Ask your kids?
Some kind of art/craft set for the girl and a building set of some kind for the boy? RCSS had some girls' craft sets and small Kre-O sets on for relatively decent prices. Chapter books? Lego? Paper plane kit with book? My 7-year-old nephew and our daycare provider's 9-year-old son love getting hoodies. Beyblades? Skylanders? For the girl, clothing with some sparkle? A kids' nailpolish kit? A science kit? Jewellery?

Minou has great ideas - I'd say Lego for the boy - and can be for the girl, too, but a craft/jewellery kit is a great idea, too.
New Lego Friends for girls - wide price variety

For boys - there are so many kinds, plus the new Lego games.

I would just ask my kids. What are the interests of the kids that are having the party? They may not necessarily like traditional gender type gifts. The girl might really like Lego, and the boy might really like arts and crafts. I might get them a gift certificate to build a bear or the movies.
You could also get them a magazine subscription - National Geographic Kids magazine, Owl magazine, etc. Some kids love getting stuff in the mail and this fits the bill.
