With VOIP do you need to have phone service in place in order to switch to VOIP? ( I cancelled Telus in May and don't have a phone # anymore).
Also my phone line is attached to my buzzer for the intercom. Will that be an issue?Zoombucks are back: Please consider using my link to sign up again: https://zoombucks.com/?ref=IIHO0L

Hello! Sorry for the late response. VoIP stands for Voice-Over IP (Internet Protocol) While the technology has been around since the late 90's it's wide spread use in business and at home really had started to kick in over the past few years. The beauty of it is that it allows you to use existing phones with all the benefits of using modern technology at a fraction of the cost. For once, users do not have to pay more to get more!
For more information about VoIP we had published a nice article here: http://www.gonevoip.ca/resources/voip-introduction/

Hi There!
You can get new numbers with majority of VoIP providers - thus that wouldn't be a problem. With regards to the buzzer, it depends on how it's implemented in the building. Usually that is run by an internal system that has no interaction with the actual phone provider; they usually ring an extension designated to each app #. You can talk to the building manager but worse that can happen is that you'll need to have a simple corded phone (typically less than $10) for the buzzer connected up to one of the phone jackets in the wall.
Hope this helps!

Hi kava5 - sorry for the delay in responding. We've moved to higher capacity servers and that caused some temporary disruption of service as some traffic got directed to the old location as we were working and having also traffic on the new server. In a nutshell - we are back on on the same site with higher capacity now.
Also, since we are at it, and b/c smartcanucks has been such a great community to us you get to see first hand our Dec. flyer here: http://www.gonevoip.ca/wp-content/up...MoneySaver.pdf - it'll start in GTA and then we'll be country wide thru '14.
Thank you!
