We went to the States on Thanksgiving weekend, and honestly I didn't find the pricing to cheaper than it is here. Now we didn't go to outlet stores like Bon Ton or Burlington(dh is not a shopper and we only went for one night to watch the Bills game the next day), but clothing wise things were the same price at the chain stores(H&M, Justice, Forever 21, TCP, Gymboree, Aldo)as they are here and would have been more expensive to buy there with the exchange rate. And actually Carters, Gap and Old Navy were MORE expensive than here.
Food wasn't super cheap(we just bought snacks and stuff that they don't sell in Canada), I paid 2.49 for cookies, 2.29 for Pop Tarts, 3.20 for M&Ms, my best deal was at Target bought 4 cases of Vanilla coke for 12.00.
There's definatley more variety in the States but I've never found the prices to be amazing unless its at an outlet or Marshalls/TJ Maxx etc.

    Thanks for the Thanksgiving update.
About Marshall's, we went to some sunny States and made friends with store staff. We found out that shoes go on red tag clearance on Wednesdays at one particular store. We got shoes that were regularly $50, for $29.99 (first mark down) and then $19.00 on red tag clearance.

What do you think about Black Friday shopping in the States? How about the week after Black Friday for sales?

    Thx.

I've never been actual black friday shopping(on my bucket list), but sometimes I use my mil credit card(cus most US stores you need a US card to check out with) shop online and things sent to her. I really don't find the deals that great, electronics are great prices but by the time my mil would get them to me it's past the return date and I'm SOL if it doesn't work. I also find alot of the clothing stores run the same black friday promos multiple times until Christmas, and if there's a Canadian outlet of the same store we get the same promos(ie last year Gymboree, Old Navy, the Children's Place and Hollister all the same promos as the US stores on Black Friday).
