Today, I just found nice Certified Organic Fresh Turmeric Root at Rainbow Foods (@ $46/kg), 1487 Richmond Rd., Ottawa 613-726-9200.
Natural Food Pantry, 126 York, 613-241-6629, usually carries it but they're out of stock until next Tuesday, therefore, they couldn't give me a price today.
No Gatineau store carry it unfortunately (I'm back into juicing again and I called everywhere).

Market Organics (formerly Natural Food Pantry), 126 York, 613-241-6629 sells the organic one at $27/kg. :biggrin: What a difference !! However, parking is NOT free on the Byward Market (parking meter is at least $3/hour). I know where I will buy it next time. Greycloud :-)

Rainbow price is outrageous at $46 but in the beginning of my search I didn't know better. ;)
I forgot about this and forgot come back to mention that they now recently have certified organic fresh turmeric roots at La boîte à grains in Gatineau, and in Hull. It is $29,49 still today, I just called both of them.
My Indian landlord told me she gets it cheaper (not certified organic, but produced in the Vancouver area apparently) in an ethnic shop near Merivale & Hunt Club. I will post the info when possible.

Forget about the other ethnic shop... just called them... only dry powder and dried whole... but ratings on 2 websites are horrible about all they have in there (expired & stale food and overall bad hygiene), so I wont even mention their name. Only a few excellent ratings which really sounds like they are totally fake. Always pay attention to cleanliness in food shops !
I live near Merivale & Hunt Club and would also like to know where to buy the fresh turmeric. If you find the name of the store near there, please post. Thank you in advance!
