Some 20,000 people are being evacuated after a series of explosions at a massive arms depot in eastern Ukraine described by officials as sabotage.
The base in Balakliya, near Kharkiv, is around 100km (60 miles) from fighting against Russian-backed separatists.
The dump is used to store thousands of tonnes of ammunition including missiles and artillery weapons.
Rescue teams are overseeing a huge evacuation effort for people living in the city and nearby villages.
The total area of the dump spans more than 350 hectares, the military says.
Everyone within a 10km (6 miles) radius of the dump is being evacuated, the Interfax news agency quoted an aide to President Petro Poroshenko as saying.
Munitions from the depot are used to supply military units in the conflict zone in nearby Luhansk and Donetsk, reports say.

Dmytro was born in 1980. He served as a senior marine in the 1st Company, 701st Battalion, 36th Separate Brigade.
He leaves behind his mother, brother and a 9-year-old daughter.

He had turned 33 just a few days ago.
Sashko served in the 17th Separate Mechanized Brigade. A kind, sincere and patriotic man, he was much loved and appreciated by his comrades-in-arms.

Five Dead After Ukrainian Military Copter Crash


Ukraine's Defense Ministry said a military helicopter has crashed in the eastern Donbas region, killing five people aboard.

The ministry said the crash happened March 26 near Kramatorsk, the headquarters of the military operation against Russia-backed separatists in the eastern part of the country.
Two crew members and three passengers died when the Mi-2 copter crashed after apparently flying into some power lines, the ministry said.

Sergeant Volodymyr Pavliw, call sign “Ohoniok” (Sparky), died in combat near Novooleksandrivka, Luhansk Oblast on March 24, 2017 from shrapnel wounds to the head.

Volodymyr was born on December 12, 1974 in Lviv. He first went to war as a volunteer and then enlisted, serving as gunner and commander of his division in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Volodymyr had a comfortable life abroad - in England and Belgium, but decided to return to Ukraine and enlist in the army. He considered that it was his duty to protect his homeland against the enemy.
Volodymyr leaves behind his mother, brother and sister.
Volodymyr will be laid to rest in Lviv on March 28, 2017.

Petro Kozaruk was laid to rest on March 29, 2017 in the village of Rayhorodok, Zhytomyr Oblast. Petro was killed in a mortar attack near Avdiyivka on March 26, 2017. The shell hit the dugout and Petro and two younger soldiers (Oleksiy Tymchenko and Serhiy Mosiychuk) died on the spot.

Petro was about to turn 40…
Senior sergeant Petro Kozaruk was born in the village of Turka, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast on May 24, 1977. He married and had children.
When he remarried, he and his second his wife settled in Rayhorodok, a little village in Zhytomyr Oblast.
Petro was mobilized and served for more than a year in the anti-aircraft division of the 57th Brigade deployed near Horlivka. He enlisted and joined the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. His wife Larysa also serves in the same brigade.
Petro leaves behind his mother, daughter and son.

22-year-old Oleksiy Tymchenko was killed in a mortar attack near Avdiyivka on March 26, 2017. The shell hit the dugout and Oleksiy and two other soldiers (Petro Kozaruk and Serhiy Mosiychuk) died on the spot. He served in the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.

Oleksiy was born in the village of Stebliv, Cherkasy Oblast on August 25, 1994.
His friends remember him as a good and honest young man. He was a favourite with the girls, joking and smiling all the way.
His girlfriend was waiting for him…

19-year-old Serhiy Mosiychuk was laid to rest on March 29, 2017 in his native town of Korets, Rivne Oblast. Serhiy was killed in a mortar attack near Avdiyivka on March 26, 2017. The shell hit the dugout and Serhiy and two other soldiers (Oleksiy Tymchenko and Petro Kozaruk) died on the spot.

Serhiy was born on July 22, 1997. He enlisted in January 2016, serving in the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Serhiy did not have the chance to enjoy life and start a family, but he found time to go to war and defend his country.
He leaves behind his grieving parents.

#Lutsk (NW Ukraine): Polish consulate-general was attacked w/grenade launcher March 29



Polish Foreign Ministry has confirmed that no one was hurt in the incident. Poland's Consul in Lutsk Krzysztof Sawicki has called the shooting a "terrorist act," aimed at killing people.
