I leave the house at 7-ish, don't get home until 5 so I don't cook anything during my workday that can't handle a long cooking time.

Well you see ... now you could cook in your crock-pot during the week (while at work) lower cooking time recipes, if you had this one!!! lol Just saying ...

Ribs, 6 hours on low, more or less this recipe but with just a pinch of salt... 2 TBPSN makes it pratically inedible and I add 1/4 cup water to the bottom because I get scared I'll burn my slow cooker http://paleospirit.com/2011/dry-rubb...s-paleo-style/

Potato soup is on my menu for this evening. I got up five minutes early so I could get it ready before I went to the gym at 5:15 this morning. I love how easy crock pot food is.

Small utility turkey (thank you Walmart sale!), stuffed with onion and sage and wrapped in bacon. I'll try and take pictures when it's ready to go.

This recipe is the closest I can get to my grandmother's stuffing. I don't always make it with cranberries though.

(I just use regular loaves of bread)

I've got beef stew again in the crockpot. Purchased Slow Cooker Veggies by Arctic Gardens to try out. Will see how it turns out.

This is the dark meat tray, the other two are white meat and legs. 5.5 kg turkey for 9 hours, fell apart when I took it out. I had to saw off a leg to get it to fit in the crock pot so the before picture wasn't worth it, just a bird with strips of bacon and half onions tucked in and around it.

    The tasty aftermath:

Last night I put the ingredients for taco soup into my small crockpot - chicken thighs (bones in, skin removed), salsa, homemade taco seasoning, black beans I'd done in my crockpot a few days ago, corn. Once the chicken is cooked and falling apart, remove the bones and gristly bits, shred the chicken and add enough chicken broth to thin it to where you want it. Serve with tortilla chips and cheese on top.

On the stuffing front, I am trying to get away from packaged things, so I made this stuffing bread at Thanksgiving: http://baking.food.com/recipe/stuffi...-machine-88258. Also added mushrooms, onions, peppers, garlic, summer savory and such. It was quite good, will do again at Christmas. I don't think we're going to do a whole turkey, despite the big Wal-Mart sale. There's a store in the area that sells turkey drumsticks that are really good and I even managed to make gravy from them last time. I'm hoping I can get some turkey parts like that and make a turkey dinner out of it. Or if there's a really great deal on a fresh bird, I'll cut it in half and freeze half of it.

A bit of a product review... The Arctic Gardens Slow Cooker Vegetables were okay. The potatoes and carrots were a bit mushy after 4 hours. The mushrooms, celery and onions held together much better. I wouldn't buy the product again but rather use fresh ingredients.
