Horton's stopped making all of their donuts in store a few years ago.
Now they are all baked at a huge bakery (which I drive past every morning and it smells so darn good) and they ship them to the stores for final prep. I am pretty sure that the mass production has lead to the reduction in size....and the change in taste.
I too am a Walnut Crunch fan (well I was) because back before the mass production, you could taste the chocolate cake and the walnuts and they were sooooooo good.
Now the donuts are bland and small and the sugar topping is in your face.

Totally agree, TH donuts have gotten smaller and smaller over the years. Think the last time I bought TH donuts they were like $4.99 dozen.
If I feel like donuts I buy them at Safeway, much bigger than TH and usually $3.49 for 6. Plus after 7pm each night they are 1/2 price. They have the glazed croissants, so yummy. I was there just last week after 7 and bought 6 glazed croissants. A older couple was buying the same, the lady says oh these keep good frozen too.

^ I agree about Safeway doughnuts, they are really pretty good - though most are way too heavy on the sweet icing. LOVE the doughnut croissants, they are wicked!

Not only they are Shrinking in size & much more expensive than before , they are NOT baked fresh anymore.

Earlier they actually used to be baked in each outlet ..now some frozen crap comes on a truck from their factory/warehouse and gets dumped in the various outlets. They actually used to have a baker in most Tim's stores ..not anymore.

These donuts are then thawed & sold to you ..so basically frozen thawed not so fresh shrinking smaller size expensive donuts to you

I remember the woman who was fired for giving one lousy Tim Bit for free to a cute toddler who came in with a customer .

Tim Hortons fires single mom over free Timbit

A single mother of four has been fired from a Tim Hortons restaurant in London, Ont., for giving a free Timbit to a baby.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was a public out cry & then she was rehired or something.

Not sure if it ( firing ) was the right thing or the wrong thing to do for Tim's..I guess company policy , but not everything is black or white.

    Except a small coffee which is $ 1.40 ( with tax ) - 1.33 + tax - I don't have anything else over there anymore.

The $ 1.39 - Coffee & Muffin deal at McDonalds is much better ..the Muffin is decent size & tastes good ..much better than the almost $ 1.00 small donut at Tim's .

BTW , Tim's has a Strudel + Small Coffee deal for $ 1.49 , so if you are just having a small coffee , you might as well have that ..the strudels are decent , I think its apple & strawberry ( 2 flavours )

Tim's here where I live has the grossest coffee ever...the ad should be always burned.....I used to love the donuts.....even the chocolate topping isn't the same, actually the full cakes Tim's used to sell like Black Forest were good too

I'm going to take a shot at making my own boston cream donuts. Tonight, perhaps! I was just thinking yesterday about how ridiculously small they are for the price and decided upon making my own.

And what kind of moron must she think you if she assumes you're giving a dog chocolate glazed donuts?! EVERYBODY knows chocolate can be toxic to dogs.

    I have a recipe. I'll share.

I used to love their donuts, but now I never order them anymore. They're kind of disappointing.

Used a recipe online. Didn't turn out as awesome as I'd hoped

Next time I'm going to make mini sugar donuts because my mom loves those and only can get them at the fair.
