Tuesday was my usual hospital day. It was an all day kind of affair.
First stop was the Blood Lab. It was so unbelievably busy. People were standing & the line up just to be given your number to be poked was crazy. When we got there, they were serving #45, I was #11...my wait was about one hour. They people there are amazing, they work under such demand. The renovations can't happen soon enough. The Loocie in me came out & I started joking with a couple of people & soon we were all laughing at the silliness of waiting with anticipation to get your blood drawn.
Next stop was the Sarcoma Clinic (there are several clinics & several docs making it a very happening kind of place) My wait there was also about an hour. I saw my doc & she checked me out & said to keep on doing what I am doing.... So here I am doing my thing.
Then I am up to the 18th Floor short stay unit where I see my clinical nurse & do my patient thing, my vitals etc. I also get one months supply of my clinical trial drug. It's a long wait, but it's all good. I make one more stop to have an ECG & then I am able to go home. It can turn into an 8 hour day quite easily. I like to grab a quick snack from Druxy's Deli.
So my kick at the can with this continues. There are days when this marathon melts me down. It is such a struggle to find that balance some days. I need to allow myself to let my emotions flow with a good cry. This game of shinny really does get on my nerves!
Loocie over & out.
xx

Shell out, shell out the Witches are out, is what we used to say,
Around the block & up the street as we masqueraders made our way,
Armed with a pillow case & a Unicef Box with the moon as our tour guide,
Princesses & spooky make up that looked just bona fide!
Broomsticks, fangs & cobwebs & pumpkins on the porch,
Mysterious & spooky oh those hair-raising screams so loud they almost scorch!
Little devils & fairies, perhaps a scarecrow or two,
Cauldrons, monsters & spider webs give a gruesome cry of boo!
Blackcats, mummies & elf’s & ghouls with those wax fangs,
Ghosts, magic wands & goodies to satisfy those hunger pangs,
Stopping off at home to unload & go back out for more,
The house that gave out caramel apples; a kid could not ask for more!
Going out with your friends made Halloween all the more exciting,
Examining your haul dumped on your bed, though cavities may be inciting,
Happy Halloween one & all, be safe & watch out for skeletons & trolls,
& if you are brewing a potion over the fire, remember to stir the coals!
Happy Halloween one & all!
(my son & his friend made this little Yoshi Pumpkin a few years ago, & then we had roasted pumpkin seeds.)

A very special pumpkin.
To all my treasured friends & family who are in a continuous revolving battle,
Please bear with me for a moment & indulge me in this prattle,
I think we can all concur that cancer is devious & we don't need to go to the jury,
Just keep on encouraging us to unite in the fight ,as we crusade with staunchest fury,
Although the dance of life ain't so bad & when I wake up I am still Val,
I keep on getting news that challenges my logic & rationale,
I just wish I could grasp some reasons that could give this equation an answer,
Step back & keep your distance as I am so spent by the shenanigans of cancer!!
p.s. I know that sometimes I can be difficult & not so easy to live with. My family always treats me with compassion even when I have been short tempered & crabby. I would like to see an official day where the family & friends of people fighting cancer get acknowledged, as they sure deserve it.
Love,
Loocie xx

Well, I am back at it this week. Princess Margaret tomorrow. I am feeling restless, so we're going for a drive today. I have had a great weekend though, including a night out to celebrate my birthday.
