As an update we went to get a ear mold done back in march but found out he had too much wax.

Needed a referral with his ENT ( ear nose throat specialist) to remove the wax... It took a verrery long 4 mos to get wax removed.
After all that we got another appointment to get the mold done (3 days later).

After 2 wks we got the hearing aid.

I'm VERY SHOCKED!! Impressed and SURPRISED.
The audiologist told me that I will have a very hard time getting my son to wear his aid.

We got the aid on Friday and didn't try that day as we spend 4 hrs during the "fitting process" and receive the aid.

The next day, we tried it in. He fought us when we out it on.

TO IUR SURPRISE. He did very well with it. Pulled it out still but not every chance he got. We did keep him very busy as a distraction. On day three, I realized that HE KNEW the aid helps him hear better. It fell out one time and he tried to out it bak in himself.

This is the 4th wk he's been wearing it consistently!! I'm so proud of him. When the audiologist told me she's known some families struggling with their child for over a year... I was truly bracing myself. But went for it because I wanted to keep that side of his brain to process sound.

Well good for you-you must be so proud of your son keping it in and knowing it helps him-kids are amazing and I am sure it will make a big difference for him speech wise, safety wise( hearing where a car is coming from) etc. I worked with a family with identical 2 year old twin girls, both with severe hearing impariments using cochlear implants and they both kept them on and were learning to talk-amazing. Parenting your child to have a strong sense of self and to feel good about themselves even if they do have a hearing aide or glasses or an artifical limb or whatever the case may be is wonderful.
